She only meant to wear it for the night. The leaves, the thin green straps, the vines she could actually move if she wanted. It was supposed to be a costume. She stepped into the garden under the moon to check how it looked, and the plants answered like they’d been waiting for her.

Now she sits among the roses with her arms raised, hair loose down her back, letting the vines wind around her wrists and thighs. The leaves settle where they want. She doesn’t fix them. The moonlight catches the bare skin between the straps and she stays there longer than she planned, one hand resting on her hip, glancing back over her shoulder with that small, knowing smile. The garden is quiet. The roses are open. The vines tighten just enough that she can feel them.

She could take it off. The party is still going somewhere else. She just hasn’t decided she wants to yet. For now the costume, the high moon, and the way the vines keep finding new places to hold her are enough reason to stay exactly where she is.
