[SEASON 4] Cherry Crush Episode 142 (Patreon)

Hallo everynyan..!

Long time no authors notes.. i kept saying description TBA in the previous episodes but bc my brains been so scattered trying to finish the next ep that i dont even have time to reflect on the previous episodes to talk about them.. when i usually do these episode commentary i just wanted to talk about the process most of the time..

The length of the episode is one thing, most cherry crush episodes are quite long and they do take a long time to plan out.. i think storyboarding/thumbnailing was always my biggest hurdle despite having over 100+ episodes under my belt it just never gets easier.. this episode was quite tricky because i had to cut back and forth between the convo with Chohan and Thorne in the car and the convo with Chohan and Colie.. and this is also a transition episode so i had to change bg without making it look boring.. i dont know.. i really hate doing backgrounds but not as much as i hate doing fight scenes so askjdnaskjn ill be grateful there's not a lot of action this episode yet.

As for the plot.. i feel like people are really seeing how much of an impact Thorne really has on Chohan now because if you really think about it.. Thorne's the last piece of the puzzle, Chohan wouldn't be able to do half as much destruction as he did if it wasn't for Thorne, and i really really realllly thought everyone would realize Thorne is an antagonist when he TRIED TO KILL MASHIRO (everyone forgot abt that😭😭??) but readers were really holding out hope that he was secretly on Cherie and Crush's side which makes me really sad bc i can't imagine how disappointed they all are right now 😭 I told everyone it's the last season so we're really going scorched earth so.. but dw it has to get worse before it gets better and i promise there's a happy ending I PROMISE PLS BELIEVE ME IT LOOKS TERRIBLE RN BUT I PROMIKSEKJSDF.. Thorne's lore hasn't dropped yet for a reason like if you're asking yourself "why's he doing this??" IT'LL BE REVEAL SOON.. i just have to find the right moment to do it but i promise his lore is ambiguous on purpose..!

also on a technical nightmare for this episode.. i was halfway done with it until one morning my drivers updated and my tablet wont work anymore and i had to go back to using my old screentablet that was giving insane wrist issues so.. that was fun, but i go think being able to see where my pen is has helped me done better with details.. even though one panel legit takes me like an hour to do it's actually so disgusting i hate how slow i draw now.. treasure ur youth pls.. 😭 i hope this episode was as fun to read as it is to write.. i'm always scared whenever i have to do an episode without cherie or crush but you know, it's the last season, the story has to split from their perspective as some point, AND it really helps build up the sense of impending doom when u watch cherie crush be cute and domestic again knowing what's coming next..
