THE WIZARD OF OZ is celebrating its 85th anniversary and we’re taking a trip down the yellow brick road with Dorothy & co, ruby slippers and all! 🌪️💚👠🦁🧠🔮✨

The actual anniversary is on Sunday August 25th if you want to wait until then. Otherwise, enjoy!

God I love this movie and have seen it countless times. I had the 50th anniversary VHS as a kid and it definitely got a workout

This movie is a classic for a reason! I haven't seen it in forever. It's so good. Loved this rewatch. When you were wondering about how they colored the horse, I thought I remembered that it was basically food coloring. Googled to see if I remembered correctly and found this (copied and pasted here): "The ASPCA refused to allow the horses to be dyed; instead, technicians tinted them with lemon, cherry, and grape flavored powdered gelatin to create a spectrum of white, yellow, red, and purple. They had to be prevented from licking the colored powder off themselves between takes." I was right. Yay for the ASPCA. It appears the horses were treated better than the people on this movie set all thanks to them. ❤️

OH HEY have you checked out The Jitterbug? Some folks might not know about this song that was cut from the film - it should be on the DVD or you can probably find it online easy enough. It's my absolute favourite song of the musical!

This is so kool to watch this with you, my favorite pumpkins. There are so many anecdotes about this wonderful film but here is my favorite. Margaret Hamilton was a guest on a talk show many years after Oz and was asked about the longevity of Oz, how loved it is and how it's still around after all this time and she said she realized it one day after an unsuccessful audition she had been on. She didn't get the part, she felt nauseous and wanted to lie down, so she was going to go home, lie down for awhile and that would help her feel better. Then she realized that was it. The longing for home, for a sanctuary, was universal.

This movie has so much meaning to me yall! It used to come on TV once a year. My grandma started the annual watch tradition by making snacks and making a whole night of it. My mom did that for me and my siblings and I passed the tradition to both of my sons! Now I have a 3 year old grandson who I'm also passing it to. 5 generations of tradition is amazing and I hope my grandson will pass it on to his children!

Rewatching this with yall for the first time in almost 20yrs and just now realizing that the good witch was definitely an instigating, petty queen 😂 her smile the whole time when the wicked witch showed up killed me lol. Also the little ballet girls in the beginning is what made me start ballet at 4yo 🥲 I just HAD to get in those pointe shoes 😂

If you're ever in Port Canaveral you should check out this cool Wizard of Oz museum! They have some really cool stuff in there, including a bunch of copies of the dozens of books wrote about Oz. There's even a cool Immersive experience (like the touring Van Gough one) that takes you through parts of the book. It's every cool!!!

This was so fun to watch with you guys Yes it's film is a huge part of my childhood and I'm what you call a film rewatcher so I'll watch movies again and again there's specific films from my childhood which are Mary Poppins The sound of music The Love bug Herbie goes to Monte Carlo was it a vase so these films hold a special place in my heart also please please since you brought it up watch return to Oz that would be so awesome plus it's a known children's horror film as he said and I would love to see you watch that.
