This mother isn't smothering, she's nurturing! She might be a helicopter parent, but she's our MAMA and we're celebrating her in our first-time watch of this deliciously-dreary drama. Jessica Chastain in a choppy black wig, Lil Nélisse doing a wilderness jig. It's all thrills here at The Patch as we let MAMA do what MAMA gonna do 🖤👼🏻😱 (This was previously locked away in The Petty Vault, but Mama said it was time for this edit to hit YouTube!)

Please help us out by giving the YouTube edit a like, comment, hype, share, stream, scream—we're screaming because we loved MAMA so much and can't wait to hear your thoughts, Pumpkins! 💕

I find this film to be anxiety inducing and actually scary. Which is pretty rare for me. It takes a lot to scare me. Been watching and reading horror and extreme horror for so long now, since childhood, that I guess I’m desensitized most of the time to being really scared. But I think during the times when the frames are blurry and it cant be made out what’s happening and it’s not clear what we’re seeing is very anxiety inducing and rather scary. By keeping Mama out of direct sight for a great portion of the film, giving us eery sounds and noises, making the children themselves creepy especially in the way they move at first, coupled with the POV of seeing through the blurry vision of the little girl helps build a terrifying atmosphere. Coupled with a great cast, I think Guillermo delivers an at times terrifying, at times heartbreaking, horror fable that I don’t think gets nearly enough credit or discussion.
