Ohhh this is my favorite Peele movie. It has an almost old Spielberg vibe to it, and Daniel and Keke are OUTSTANDING!

Petty Pumpkins

Yes, we were talking about how Spielbergian it felt, and then come to find out Peele pulled inspiration from Close Encounters of the Third Kind (which we did recently) AND Jurassic Park (Which we had watched right before this) Can really see that in NOPE!

No one plays profoundly quiet like Daniel, and Keke as his sister?!? Dream cast.

DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE!!!!!!!! I HATE the speech the Jupe gives the audience! When he says he saw the saucer and Trigger ran into the Gulch and it was like he was "going home"....he WAS TRYING to go home, back to the ranch where he lived before he was sold to the horse killer. Jupe is romanticizing it, trying to make it sound all "western". I get that Jupe didn't know that the saucer would eat it, but the fact that his reaction to seeing what happened was to buy more horses to be eaten...makes me wish chim chim had taken him out too. The fact that he whispered "You're chosen" before his speech....he didn't come away from his near death experience with any humility. It made him arrogant and callous. How could anyone who ISN'T a total asshole have the idea to feed horses to a monster and turn it into a "family show"!

Yall should watch Don’t Look Up for the channel, since it was mentioned for a split second 👀😂

I don't interpret the ending as OJ being dead. Through the whole movie, he is repeatedly shown to be the one person who knows how to handle a wild animal like a predator. He learns there is safety in not looking directly at it. But then he hurts JJ with the fake horse and tricks it with his desert run. In doing so, he is exerting his dominance over JJ, calling back to when he says any wild thing can be broken. In his last scene before the end, he is no longer hiding his eyes. He is looking directly at JJ, knowing that JJ knows as well as he does, that he is the dominant animal in the situation. JJ will not eat him because he has shown dominance, so JJ leaves him alone to chase Em instead. So when we see him at the end, it is really him, showing that he faced down the ultimate predator and survived.
