More fun filming facts! The “Fake Good Place” (the outdoor parts) was mostly filmed at Universal Studios and you can see it if you go on the studio tour at the Universal Studios theme park. The Los Angeles Universal Studios location is still very much a working film studio and the studio tour is very cool. The forest where the final door is, is the Redwood National Park in Northern California where you can see some of the oldest trees in the world. In fact, the oldest tree is there but they (the tree scientists) won’t tell exactly which one it is. Also, this isn’t a filming fact but if you ever go to LA, you should see a show at Upright Citizens Brigade. It’s a sketch/improv theatre and school founded by Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh (Veep), Matt Besser (Crazy Ira on Parks and Rec), and Ian Roberts (Reno 911, Arrested Development). Alot of comedians and comedic actors got their start there including D’Arcy Carden (Janet) and Jason Mantzoukas (Derek) and often they come back to do shows there so there’s always a pretty good chance you’ll see someone you recognize from something. In fact, I see Carl Tart (Steve, a Bad Place Employee), Phil Augusta Jackson (Kellen, a Good Place employee), and Eugene Cordero (PillBoi) in shows there all the time.

I think its a brilliant idea that they filmed it Redwood National Park, it adds another layer of depth to the final episode, another reason why the show was so great they actually thought about what they are showing in the scene.
