Good reaction. Are you going to do the companion documentary? It is narrated by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg and they have interviews with Rosie and Crosby.

Enjoyed the reaction, guys. I do wish Hanks/Spielberg would do a navy series - it’s the only one remaining out of the branches during the war. The food drops were not just over the Netherlands. The Berlin Air Drop was conducted by the Allies to help the German people on the Soviet controlled side because they were devastated by food shortages, winter clothing and coal for heating. We had to beg the Soviets to allow the drops, especially in preparation for winter. It was another brutally cold winter after the war. The Luftwaffe controlled stalags were not bad as they generally adhered to the Geneva Convention. The lack of food was due to the disruption of supply lines by the Allies. Unfortunately, in destroying Germany’s logistical infrastructure, it adversely affected our men in captivity. The Geneva Convention mandates that POWs are to be fed exactly what the captors eat, so if our guys are eating turnips and potatoes, the Germans were eating the same. I watched a documentary of American POWs who survived captivity when the war ended and one said he got pneumonia and was in the infirmary and all they had to eat was thin soup with potatoes. He said he survived because the camp commandant let him have double servings and allowed an elderly German lady in the camp with apples from her orchard. He was Jewish but contrary to Reich policy, he was not separated and sent to a concentration camp. He swore the German lady with apples probably saved his life since he was given more because of his illness. Later, after he recovered, the commandant marched them out of the camp into some woods. He pointed west and told them he couldn’t feed them anymore as he didn’t even have enough food for his troops, so he freed them and said to go west and they’ll run into Allied forces who were closing in. They did run into British troops and were saved.

A Navy Series would be amazing, That is a very interesting fact we didn't know that POWS where fed the same rations, I didn't realise that the convention was made in 1864. Do you remember the name of the documentary?
