This is definitely a Peak episode of TV. It changed the landscape forever. Two often-ignored lines when Jeff first confers with Troy & Abed always make me laugh inordinately: Troy joyously exclaiming "Jeff Winger, you son of a bitch!" If that's from a specific war movie, I don't know the title, but it's such a stereotypical "war comrades unexpectedly reunited" line. And then Jeff saying "We don't want to resort to cheap ploys" as he takes off his shirt to reveal his tight-fitting undershirt. There are indeed massive numbers of movie references, and I'm sure I don't know them all. You found The Matrix and Hong Kong cinema, and I would point out Jeff jumping to safety in a sleeveless undershirt and bare feet being a reminder of Bruce Willis in Die Hard.

Was foaming at the mouth waiting for this all week, and your reactions did not disappoint. :) This episode really was lightning in a bottle, and Dan Harmon was able to recognize all that was wonderful about it and develop a template...
