The idea of Troy's @oldwhitemansays Twitter account, and the bad idea of making it into a sitcom, was a direct jab at the real-life twitter account "$#*! My Dad Says," which was turned into a sitcom (starring William Shatner!) that premiered the same night that this episode aired. (I'm surprised to find that it lasted a whole season, 18 episodes. I think it's fair to say that if the show is remembered at all, it's as one of the all-time worst ideas.)

Sorry to comment again, but I just recalled that you made me laugh with your recollection that Annie was about to go off with Vaughn "to Denver." I told you in the last episode about how we residents of Delaware are used to our state being the butt of jokes, in that finale "Delaware" being uttered as equivalent to "nowhere." And now you've literally turned it into Nowhere by substituting Denver for it!! :)
