Gremlins is such a purely, perect movie. Lightning in a bottle. Due to its success: WB wanted another, because: money. Spielberg and Dante said, "na" because they knew itd be a cash-grab that wouldn't be half as good. Buuut...the studio eventually agreed that Dante could have Final Cut of G2. He could do...Anything he Wanted. And he giggled and then burned the house down. Gremlins 2 (no "plot" spoils) is a director wrecking a train on purpose resulting in one of the best meta-movies ever. The opening will very much tell you exactly what you're in for. (The fact that Daniel Clamp is based on...well...who he's based on is just an odd bonus at this point.) "I think that's the craziest movie I've seen" y'all said. You ain't seen nuthin yet 😜.

Here is the gremlin origin story "Gremlins were mythical creatures that pilots blamed for flight accidents and mechanical problems during World War II: Origin The term "gremlin" originated in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and may have come from the Old English word gremian, which means "to vex". Popularity The concept of gremlins became popular among RAF pilots, especially those in the Photographic Reconnaissance Units (PRU). Role Pilots used gremlins as a scapegoat to deflect blame for unexplained accidents. This helped build morale among pilots, which was important during the Battle of Britain. Mascots Pilots carried mascots of lucky gremlins to combat the devilish gremlins. For example, one B-17 crew considered a gremlin mascot a good luck charm and flew it on all of their missions over Germany from 1942–1945. Other sightings The first reported sightings of gremlins in the United States were in 1941 at airfields and on U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) warplanes. Strato-Gremlins A particularly mischievous type of gremlin that was said to haunt the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and its aircrew. Roald Dahl The author of a children's book about gremlins in 1943. Walt Disney Published a cartoon book based on Dahl's characters, which increased their fame. Stephen Spielberg Made films Gremlins and Gremlins 2, which were similar to Dahl's original work.

That explains why they mention it in the movie about foreign stuff having Gremlins inside. Thank you for the background, we had no idea there was a Roald Dahl book either, might have to check it out 🤣
