You don't have a lot of Expanse fans here to help with these issues. But yeah, the actor playing Alex unfortunately was found to be harrassing other members of The Expanse team and the writers/Show runner needed a way to get him off the show (which is not in line with the books). They could have recast (awkward!) but chose instead to have Alex the character go out saving his family. There were a few scenes at the end where the actor had to be removed and a few extra scenes shot. It does impact the story going forward in ways I cannot get into but the actor's behavior could not be tolerated any further. It is one of the sad aspects of real life that needed to be addressed and they did it in the best way they could think of. RIP Alex Kamal.

Ok so the Barkeith was transiting through the Laconia ring and you have to go back to E1 of this season to see the simulation by Okoye and see what Fred was seeing, the "goths" that killed the builders that Holden is warning Fred about. That scene is how Book 5 ends as well. Cortazar didn't terraform the Laconia planet (it was already habitable) but he received the protomolecule and is anxious to see what he can turn on (a la strange structure hanging in the sky). here is a link to Space Dock's analysis of the space battle in this episode which gives you the fine details of everything that happened in a blink of an eye! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1AEHK8oQeA. And i always like to point out the line of Sauveterre, "dishonorable discharge will be a bullet, or worse". What on Laconia could that mean??! Lucky you don't have to wait another year to find out!! Great season ending episode.

Close, but not what happened. Cas Anvar was the actor, and during Expanse Fan Conventions, he had sexual relations with younger female fan. Apparently Cas was insistent when consent was withdrawn, or there was confusion over consent, and the fan came forward after the fact when the #MeToo movement was raising significant awareness and finalizing that it's not enough to go by "no means no", you have to only engage in romantic encounters when a clear and consistent YES means yes. Because the event happened in the past, at a time when social awareness of the Consent issues were not at the forefront, and because of the privacy of the setting/lack of witnesses or recorded evidence, even though Cas mantained his innocence, there was literally no way to prove anything one way or another. This was literally at the height of #MeToo, and Amazon was simply unwilling to take any side, so they simply wrote Alex completely out of the show. There are rumors and grumblings in the years since that came from the cast, that they felt Cas's issues actually tipped the balance of decisions in the execs at Amazon to cancel the Expanse all together and cut Season 6 short. Which they did. Sadly, there is no real way to resolve this, and whether Cas was guilty of his accusations or not, he showed poor judgment and a lack of discretion and for that his reputation is forever tarnished due to his inability to manage his own optics.
