As usual I held off watching this last episode as it is always emotional for me, especially seeing the last few scenes with Filip as you are definitely led to think he was on the transit with Marco. A couple of quick points, the landing teams are all names from famous Science fiction series or movies! Go back and have a closer look at the board of names: Ripley, Starbuck, Duncan Idaho, Dave Bowman (2001)and General Akbar (SW), such a lovely Easter Egg! And Naomi's scream after the transit was unscripted and caught Steven Strait by surprise as he was sitting next to her in the scene! I am a book reader and I second the above comment about the Laconia scenes. Book readers understand the implication of all of that and how it impacts the next trilogy of books. But also the show runner and writers recognized that they ended S5 with the protomolecule transiting to Laconia and they are dropping lots of hints about what Duarte has planned for it. This way there is some tie in to the Protomolecule which is truly the driving force for the entire Book and TV series. But as I said before, I can understand your frustration and that was probably intended by the show runner (Naren Shankar) et al. We want the next three books on screen!! I hope it happens one day.

I haven't read the books, but from what I've heard/read about regarding the time jump/etc, I think a lot of people have theorized if/when they do continue the show they would likely just have a shorter time jump (I've heard 10 years) so they can realistically keep most of the same actors for characters that are still relevant. I believe the Laconia scenes were also from a separate book that takes place during the time jump so it's not too crazy to include them here (even though they don't have a hugely satisfying conclusion). I'm still holding out hope we'll get that continuation as this is one of my favorite all time shows (I've watched the whole series with reactions/etc ~8 times).
