The Peninsular War 1810
The enigmatic Emperor of the First Frankish Empire has set their sights on the Iberian Peninsula of Europa, Having successfully crushed the Fifth Coalition at the Battle of Landshut, the Emperor seeks to tighten their grip on the defiant Gothorum and Vandali people. The Englican Expeditionary forces have valiantly assisted local forces against Frankish aggression; unfortunately, the tide of war has steadily turned in favor of the First Frankish Empire.
King Felipe, aboard the Gothorum Kingdom's ace in the hole, a flying Strato-class battleship called "Matamoros," has managed to slow the Frankish Empires' progress. This allowed the anti-Frankish coalition time to regroup and reform a stronger defensive line. Yet, as time goes on, even the advantage the Matamoros provides begins to wane as Frankish forces deploy more sophisticated aircraft to harass the flying battleship.
The Gothorum kingdom, once a formidable Europan power that had succeeded in spreading its influence across the world through its military and trade might, is now a floundering state, crippled by its own earlier success. The flood of silver and gold from the New World crippled its economy through tremendous inflation, and the sheer size of the Gothorum kingdom strained the logistics of the state.
Much the same can be said for the Vandali Kingdom, equally as tremendously powerful as their Gothorum brothers at their height, and afflicted by much the same troubles. Further complications arose from earlier attempts to unify the two Iberian states; this only served to drag both down quicker.
As the Emperor of the Franks turned his gaze onto them, the people of Iberia found themselves fighting a losing battle against the Franks, kept afloat now only by the power of the Matamoros and the support of their allies from the Englican dominion and the Anti-Frankish Coalition as a whole. For every step the Iberians made, the Franks took two further. Despite this, they have fought valiantly and will continue to do so until the Franks are kicked out of their homelands
