I'm cutting it super close here, but I have a lot of content for them. sorry for the wait.

1656 A.D. The Englican Realm has collapsed into a brutal civil war between the supporters of the house of Angevia led by the ruling king Charles and the parliamentarian led by Lord Warwick and his fellow members of the house of lords.

Sparked by a combination of issues that had been bubbling within the Englican Kingdom since the coronation of King Charles. With him and Parliament clashing on matters of taxation and the Englican Faith, the Parliament refused to give the King his requested coin, well the king saw to subvert the Parliaments taxation privileges by using emergency levies and outdated medieval code to fine the common folk and nobility alike. Further compounding issues was his marriage to a Rhinelander princess, Maria Von Paderborn, a devoted follower of the Catharin faith, there was a genuine fear that she would enforce the laws of the Holy Sea upon the humble and devoted Englicans. Although unfounded, further issues would not do anything but inflame this misconception.

The appointment of his new Archbishop Lawdrick, would be the point of no return. Lawdrick was a mad man, exposing a heretical belief system, one with no roots in the Holy Bible, one that made Catharinism look palatable to the good and honest Englicans. The two matches that struck the powderkeg came quickly one after another, Lawdrick in a fit of mad rage had three Englicans martyred for refusing to accept Lawdrick's Arianism heresy. On the Kings front he had once again attempted to levy emergency funds despite Parliaments warnings.

The loyal Cavalieri

Standing by the side of the rightful king of the Englicans, these brave soldiers have taken up the cause to restore order to the Englican Realm, under the royal banner. Many among their ranks came from noble lines and others saw to maintain the traditional system that had been in place since the times of their grand fathers and further back. Although not many would admit it, there was a tangible fear of what would happen if the Parlimentaries triumphed, would they undone the established order, would they strip them of their titles of their lands, what would become of their families, of their successors.

A lot is at stake, for this war is for the soul of the Englican Kingdom and the will shape their future for centuries to come.

The Parliamentarians

Standing untied against the tyrannical actions of King Charles and his mass exploitation of the people of the realm. This was the general motivation for many of them, but the actions of the mad Archbishop Lawdrick has also sparked the need to fight back for many of them. The king squeezes the people, well the Archbishop condemns them to hell. Idealistically perhaps this will be the chance to change things for the better, not just for a fraction of the population, but for all.

A lot is at stake, for this war is for the soul of the Englican Kingdom and the will shape their future for centuries to come.

War in the Isles of Angels

As war breaks out, brother will kill brother, no family will be spared the suffering and the pain of this most brutal of conflicts.

A King's Tax

He found himself on his knees, carrying his most precious of children. The exiled vicar Lawdrick, he had long ago promised to be their at Charles darkest hour. The price would be great.

A Conspiracy

Hidden among the supporters of the Great house of parliament, the Witch Irene catches wind of a grand plot against the King of the Englicans. His loyal crow, a venomous serpent, a revolutionary.

Archbishop Lawdrick

Once a devoted follower of the Englican Faith, he never settled to lead any flock in his youthful days, he believed in the wandering gospel and a truly personal God. He was a good man at one point, but something happened during his travels, a revelation of the most divine sense. The truth that many would seek to deny, but that he knew, something so primordial that it has been with them always.

He would return to the capital of Londres and preach this primordial truth, quickly he would be marked as a heretic and dangerous mad man. The king himself would exile to the desolate Isle of Stone, before he departed be told the king that he would be waiting for him on the day of his darkest hour, and he would forgive him and save him.

Upon his return he would be granted the title of Archbishop of tbe church of the Englicans by the King's decree, no one approved of this. He would attempt to force the church to incorporate his beliefs slowly, but he would grow more aggressive as the years passed. Until the martyring of three innocent Englicans.

War Witch Irene

Born in Irelan, to a Englican Soldier and Irelander commoner, her family would move to the capital of Englan when she was barely five years old. She would show her first signs of her Cognition abilities shortly after, as per law she would be forcefully taken to a Englican Coven to be evaluated and trained as a Hexan Witch. The Covens are designed guide individuals down the righteous path, one that strays away from the sinful world that would undoubtedly corrupt their gift into a dark tool.

Irene would escape the coven on her sixteenth birthday. She would flee and wander the realm for years, eventually attempting to reunite with her family. Only to find that her father had been killed during the Northern War against the Scots, and her poor mother had been sent to a sanatorium, her mind unable to withstand the loss of her only daughter and the death of her husband.

Irene was lost in grief, until she was found by a Visigeist lord named Locke. He would offer her a place in his retinue, for he could see her raw potential and it would be a great disgrace if she drowned herself in drink. Since that day she has been working for alongside Locke.

Lord Corvus

A Visigeist lord and trusted advisor to King Charles and the Angevia dynasty. Having faithfully served the Angevian lords for generations, Corvus has been a loyal servant to the crown. When the civil war broke out he quickly amassed a retinue of troops and safely escorted the royal family away from Londres, as he rightfully saw the danger of the situation unfolding. He has attempted to follow his majesties orders to the letter, fighting and doing his best to reign in the bravado of his much younger compatriots.

Lord Locke

A Visigeist lord of great renown, known for his heroic endeavors and his predilection for traveling the known world, bring back with him fantastical tales. Locke claimed to have traveled to the great floating city of Atlantropa in the west and to have seen the great living wall of the Yellow-Blooded Kingdom. He fought alongside the legendary Doomknights of the Old Continent, rode alongside the great Khans of the Heavenly Steppes, and many more grand tales. When civil war broke out, he sided with the Parliamentarians; he had always been seen as a rebel among the Visigeist, so it was no surprise that he would side with the Roundheads.

Cavalier infantry

Loyal soldiers of the Angevin monarchy, these brave souls fight to preserve the current order. They distinguish themselves from their Roundhead enemies by their attire; they tend to wear wide-brimmed hats with plumes and red sashes. Although they do use the helmets worn by the Roundheads when needed as well.

Parliamentarian infantry

More commonly referred to as Roundheads, due to their wide use of proper helmets unlike their Cavalier enemies how foolishly prefer style over practicality, with their wide brim hats that should only be used sparingly. Further more due to the Cavalier also at times using helmets, they wear orange sashes to distinguish themselves.

Seeing fun blend of historical concepts in here! Play on an English Civil War with a bit of Arianism heresy sprinkled in, alongside the good ol' trope of a religious madman as a scheming advisor with his own, perfidious agenda in the mix. Especially if one considers the ties between Archbishop Lawdrick and whatever befallen Charles' children, as "A King's Tax" certainly implies. My tinfoil hat makes me thing that there's a non-zero chance of a connection between this event and "eldritchness" of Victoria Eternal, future autocrator of the even more future Porcelain Empire In short, I'm really intrigued. Also I for sure appreciate using early modern period of mid 17th century England as a canvas to play with your design sensibilities. Both the Cavalier and The Roundhead ended up looking great!

Minister Screwtape

Pardon the delayed response but your read of it is pretty spot on, Victoria is the Charles child, and what Lawdrick does have a hand in bring about the eternal queen!

Glad to hear that my media literacy skills from high school aren't rusted xD. Well, its certainly fun seeing events unfolding with the perspective of knowing the outcome. Not to mention I'm simply looking forward to the characterisation of another eldritch lady sporting powers beyond human comprehension (which for sure can be considered a sort of "leitmotiff" of DxC's lore).
