Saturday Update! (Patreon)

The weekend is here! I actually had a very busy week, so may I offer you a long update in these trying times?

Minor news items:

Store/Tariff situation is still radio silence. I haven't received any of my restock packages yet anyway though, so for now it remains 'not a big deal'.

I have been sent a photo from the plushie guys, and they estimate that I might be getting them in 45 days-ish.

They're crammed in there and ready for their big boat ride! [ I like that most of them have their face buried deep in another ones ass ]

I had surgery this week on Wednesday! Nothing major don't worry LMAO I had a growth that was bugging me. I thought it was a cyst, and then a doc did an ultrasound and said it was an oversized lymph node. I finally got in to a surgeon and when he pulled it out he said it was actually a lipoma 😂 [ which is a very non-scary blob of fat ]. I am thrilled to have it finally taken out as it was causing me discomfort. I'm healing very well too, the surgeon did a great job. Really nice stitches work. Can't even see em. I won't show y'all the removal site, but the surgeon let me take a pic of the removed lipoma so if you're curious and like to see that kind of thing, I've included a pic of it as an attached download to this post [ it IS still technically real life gore/medical so I won't just paste it here ]

Willow kept jumping on my desk and cramming herself into a cubby, knocking over my figurines [ Roadhog and Nine from Sonic Prime ] so I moved the figurines to the top of my desk and put a towel in there for her and she has already spent hours in there while I work 🥹

I have completed the Lawrence Remix Planning Video!

It's 3 and half hours long, so here's some general notes about it for people who aint got no time for that:

My overall impression is that Lawrence's path is much worse than I remembered it LMAO but this isn't a bad thing. It just means there's a lot of room and opportunity to improve things.

My two main beefs are Bad Structure [ his path is essentially linear with branches/changes often happening with different stats, but this is rarely made clear to the player in any way ] and Bad Writing [ I wanted to write Lawrence as mentally unstable, but it comes across more as random and poor characterization in my opinion ]

Bottom line is that the brainstorming/charting phase of this might be more difficult and take more time than Strade's game. I feel like I need to redo a lot of the story from scratch with entirely new content

I've also been drawing some tests and experimental looks for Lawrence and Ashe.

Trying some designs with Ashe. Honestly very on the fence about whether I want to keep wings in the design at all right now 🤔 I did the one on the left more recently and I like that the focus turns more to the "collar". Still not sure though.

Playing more with Law's body language and trying out a new outfit [ plain white tshirt under a hoodie- I think he looks good in it, he would buy those 10 packs of shitty tshirts, and I sincerely do not want to draw 400 images of a plaid pattern LMAO ] Also experimenting with Ashe's look [ I really like the lighter eyelashes on them, I've never done that before but it's nice ]

Testing out a full render in the YKMET art style. I'm honestly quite happy with this already. The white tshirt makes him look more lazily dressed [ it looks more like a hoodie hastily thrown over essentially pajamas ]. I'm getting the hang of the posture I want him to have [ He won't ALWAYS be slouching, but I think he should be by default ] and I'm happy with the facial colouring and the wispier/messier look to his hair.

So next week I'll be starting to work on a planning chart for the gameplay/plot. I may also do more art experiments, and I might add a page for the new game on my website now that we're entering more serious development.

I am still sort of taking it easy. if I need to pull back and rest more, I will. I'm just going to approach this casually for now.
