Slicer Settings Video

This is a HUGE release to this Patreon & is definitely the most valuable to date..

These Plant Lamps make the best lamp to give your room more ambiance. Perfect for kids rooms, gaming setups, bedrooms, using for nightlights, or just for some Space Vibes. They are (almost) all made using real satellite Data from NASA. These took me several years of design iterations to get to where they are now.

Saturn*, Neptune*, Uranus*, and Pluto do not have high quality satellite scans yet to create interesting lamps from, so those models are made using some artistic interpretations to make them look better. When I sold these on Etsy, my customers did not care about that, but if you plan to sell them, its worth mentioning in your description. *These 3 planets were made in collaboration with Ri0m0 on thangs.

I sold these on Etsy, and never got into in-person sales. But I would be willing to bet that these will CRUSH at craft fairs, events, festivals, and other in-person settings.

These Planet Lamps are the best that are out there. But what qualifies me to say that?

Well these designs have grossed me $374k in revenue the last 3 years selling them on Etsy. And they were the best selling planet lamps on Etsy that entire time by a large margin. In fact they ranked at the top of all Lamps and Night Lights at one point. I sold them at around $44-$55 per planet, and i'd recommend not going much lower than that, especially if you offer free shipping.

If I made that much money why am I giving them to my Patreon Members?

A few reasons, some are personal. I am having a baby this year, moving to a different state, and wont have a warehouse anymore to pack and ship orders from since I'll be home with the baby. Also, I like designing new products for you guys a lot more than I like running a print farm. I've been running my own print farm for 4 years now and I think it's time to let others make money off of these models. Giving these models away and closing my Etsy shop will also let me put A TON more time into designing models for you guys and making the Patreon more valuable for you all. (:

Components You'll Need:

1. Wooden Base: Wood Base Use the middle size

2. Light, Charger, & Remote Bundle: RGB Lights Moon Lamp PCB-03C You can buy just a few of these at first. But they give discounts for larger order quantities.

3. Good White Filament: Polymaker White 1.75mm PLA - 1kg (Amazon) You need decent white filament for these lamps because any imperfections are exaggerated since light passes through it. This is the filament I recommend, as it also has good translucency.

Tools you may need (Optional)

1. Needle File Set (Amazon) I used these to scrape imperfections off the bottom of the lamps (you will get a lot of little bits that need to be scraped off the bottom). I also use the small round ones to screw the base in to lamp.

2. Pliers (Amazon) You'll need this style of pliers to snap the plug into the screw base. The gap is necessary to apply pressure in the right spot to get it to snap in.

Assembly Instructions: Video Here

1. Insert black part of light into Screw base

2. Snap the plug into the Screw base to secure the light in place. Pliers are required to snap it in securely

3. Screw the light base into base of lamp using pointed object (I use the Need File Set).

Printing Instructions:

Important Settings:

- 999 Walls

- 0% infill

- Use A big raft

- 0.2mm layer height

- NO Supports needed

- Use adaptive layer height to make the layer height very small on the top and bottom of the print for optimum quality.

I will add a video on my settings for these if you guys are interested. The adaptive layer height (variable layer height) is the trick to getting good top surface quality.

These Models require a good printer to pull off well, and a little more intermediate/advanced knowledge on printing and print settings. So don't print these as your first ever 3D print or you may get frustrated.

The Creation Circus

Wow! Thank you for doing this. Can’t wait to print them and see how it goes. Much appreciated

The Creation Circus

Which size wood base did you go with? Or did you offer in multiple sizes?

Twisted Prints 3D

I would be interested in your video on the settings especially in bambu studio with the adaptive layer height tool, if that is what you are using.

FocalFox

these are what i am looking for <3 Thank you!

TX911GUY

I would love to see your print settings for these lamps especially for bambu studios 999 walls seems like a lot....my P!S is showing a 13 hour and 20 minute print time....does that seem right?

TX911GUY

The moon lamp

TX911GUY

Ok thanks…..I set adaptive layers to .25 that looks like it gives the best look

TX911GUY

Is there one of them that prints significantly faster than the others? I want to print one To try to get all the settings dialed in.

Chad Roberts

Here is an idea, can you make a file of the base that we can just print in brown filament

Alex Pardo

settings do not allow me to put 999 walls

מיכאל חדד

hi man thanks for all say can you give the bambulab file with the save settings ?

Luca D

need x1c settings please

Jeff McGill

Is a raft the same thing as a brim? How many layer for a raft?

TX911GUY

This looks to be a whole kit..stand and lights

Robert Scott

Does anybody have a setting for Bambu? I printed the earth and it failed. Sparse infill Set to 0 Raft Layers set to 5 .20mm Strength Default Setting

TX911GUY

Which one of the planets were your best sellers?

Vera's Arts and Dice

I saw you also had options to hang them, do you also have an instruction on how you did that and where you got the materials?

ForgeCore

Yes I will add a post about the hanging versions. Theres a slight tweak to the model to make hanging it easier. That post should be up by the end of the month. Lots of stuff coming

Irresistible 3DPrints

19hrs with mk4 dang.... 0% infill, 999 walls, adaptive layers. is that normal

Bryan Oliver

I'm looking forward to getting a view of your settings to make sure we've got it all down right.

pi pi

Hey bro. Any update with the settings video? Im struggling here

Nicolas de Lorimier

Anyone tried with ABS to get a smoother finish with acetone ?

Twisted Prints 3D

@forgecore. You don’t by chance have the piece that holds the light in that has a loop to where we can hang them from a ceiling or something instead of a stand do you? If not, could you maybe add one to it or how would I go about adding a loop to itfor hanging my daughter-in-law wants to build the solar system and hang all 11 of them from the ceiling in their space themed game room

3Demoniak

Absolutely gorgeous ! N°1 of the 4 files that make me support you ! Thanks for the videos

Luca D

Hello, is there a possibility of a base that I can print for (EU E14 Blub)?

Shawn

The lights I bought from the link seem to be very sloppy in the plug. Also, the screw base does not go into the planet very well. It's almost like it's a tad small but once it falls in it can screw in. Def don't seem to fit like your video!

ForgeCore

Hi Shawn! When did you download the files? We adjusted the sizing a few days ago to help fix that

Matthew B

Is anybody else experiencing super sensitive touch controls for the lights? Every time I move the lamp, they change color/effects several times... I'm wondering if I should reach out to xstron about it.

3Demoniak

Polymaker has another PLA Pro : Polymaker PolySonic High Speed PLA PRO White which appear to be impressive (in extrusion and consistent finish). Do you recommend it as it same price than the standard Pro Pla ?

Luca D

need a EU e14 blub an a stand that i can print

Yōkai_San

does it need a raft or will a brim do? There doesn't seem to be a raft in bambu slicer

Irresistible 3DPrints

there are others as well, so look around, some have free shipping

Nuno Fernandes

I managed to print Planet Earth, but twice I tried the Moon and failed. When it reaches approximately 1/4 of the print, the layer becomes so thin that it starts to create areas without filament and the print becomes damaged, I am following the instructions in the video. What could be going wrong?

Nuno Fernandes

maybe the problem is that " Detect thin Wall", because I notice that the software does not allow me to click on this option, the square is all grey, how come the option was blocked, what can I do?

Nuno Fernandes

when i put the "classic" mode on wall generator I can enable "the dectect thin walls"

Shire 3D

Has anyone else noticed a wiggle in the light fixture in the cap?

Legrand

j'ai un probleme sur le capuchon

Seth VanMeter

Does anybody have slicer settings for Cura? My raft won't come off easy and I'm getting some holes around the top of the planets.

Ken Garcia

I found these being given out for free on a Facebook group I just joined. They even used your exact photos and put watermarks on them.

NoLimit3D

maybe someone can help me with the slicer setting for the prusaslicer please. I also use the artillery sidewender X1

Scott O'Donnell

Hi everyone, the planet printed great however I came across the top section and the bottom section printing thicker than the middle, I'm using Cura and doing my best does anyone know how to get it to print even?

Robert Ringrose

When you were printing these, were you using a .4 or a .6mm nozzle? I ask because when I slice, it varies between 1 and 2 lines and that change sometimes results in gaps. I'd expected to have two+ perimeters so it could print the exterior as a single pass. I was wondering if this is an artifact of using a .6mm nozzle.

janmarc3d

Hello, using arachne I have empty layers on the sliced object! I have tried with classic but I have had a failed print

Wade McIntyre

@forgecore. I’m having the same problem as others with the lights being very sloppy in the screw base. I downloaded the files from Thangs a week ago so I’m guessing they are the latest files? Is there an updated file to solve this problem? Sorry for commenting on here but I wasn’t sure if there was a discord or not and there’s no way to contact on Thangs.

Francisco Ortega

@forgecore Hey! I am having some issues with printing this on my X1C, the quality on the bottom 10-15% is terrible, I have tried fiddling with the adaptive layer heights but anytime I touch ANY of it I have the print fail but only on the smoother planets such as earth and Saturn, the rougher exterior ones such as the moon, sun etc print fine, any ideas as to what could be causing my failures? I am using the 3mf file included and even when I try the Jupiter on there without touching anything it has failures, sorry for the bother!

Seth VanMeter

I have a lot of friends and family wondering if I have a way to hang these lamps from the ceilings. Has anybody approached this idea?
