This chapter is finally coming to a close, after what feels like forever. There's more to Daisy's long weekend that I want to tell, but I might need to do so in some form other than comics. The weight of the past 4-5 years has simply become too much for me to continue drawing this particular story arc.

The seeds for this chapter were planted back in 2020, but really started to take shape in 2021, when work had started to burn me out. Through it all, I'd get ideas that I wouldn't have the time or the energy to work on, or I didn't have time to finish portions of the comic once I'd started. Whenever I was pulled away from it for months at a time, I kept adding to the story out of a need to keep interested in it, even though that meant that the ending was even further away.

I grew resentful of my animation work, and actively wished the game I was working on at the time would be cancelled. Now with every company dabbling in AI, I'm not even sure if I have a career any more. I haven't done any game work in a year, and haven't had any desire to even look.

If I'd wondered how things might get worse, well, I found that out this past May. One of my nieces had been in a traffic collision, and died. She was only 25, with a bright future mapped out. Every month since, around this time, the reality of her being gone has hit me all over again.

On a much lighter note, being done with this chapter means I'll finally be free to work on a Halloween idea I'd been sitting on for a couple of years or so. I just need to refine & lock down the idea, first, so that I'm not going into it blindly or have it grow out of control.
