Tuesday is my Sunday - it’s my day off from everything, and I am BORED!  To liven things up a bit, hows about I answer some Daisy's Diner lore questions?   The trick for me will be to not spoil things that I would much rather do in comic form, no matter how long it takes to get to those things...  folks who tune in to my streams sometimes get enough spoilers as it is!  :P

What do Violet's parents do for a living?

jklind

I picture both of her parents as current or former artists, and being two sides of a coin - dad is the idealist, while mom is the realist. Either way, both have mundane day jobs to help make ends meet.

jklind

Almost all of the above - it's been passed down, but thanks to some reconstruction there's also a bank loan, which is where Candice comes in. And if you asks Daisy, that could also be taken as a pact with a dark god. :P

I'm a fan of continuity, but there are some possibilities. There's a "Daisy in Azeroth" image I'd planned years ago but never got to; the characters could appear in different settings are part of fan-fiction written by Violet; plus some of the stuff I have planned for Mary could almost be its own separate comic...

What exactly does Mercy do? We've not seen much of her relating to her background, the most I know is she was originally going to be a villain for your Mary-Anne focused comic. Obviously she isn't an actual nun... I think?

jklind

Mercy drinks. :P She's also a lawyer, or at least used to be. She either got burned out, disbarred, or peaked early... or maybe even all three.

Guess I've got another question! Where abouts would you say the diner is located? I can't remember you mentioning a specific state or anything. Early on I figured Daisy might have a bit of a southern twang herself given Mary-Anne seems to live close by, but it's hard to tell.

jklind

I picture it being in one of the northern states, mainly because the seasons make more sense to me. Mary's accent is kind of a holdover from years back, much like Mary herself, although I do have a canon explanation for it...

I remember the first few sketches I saw of the diner (in a short comic), and it seemed in the middle of nowhere. So how is it staying afloat?

jklind

Well in the original comic it was in the middle of nowhere, just a random stop off the interstate. Now, though, it's more of a small-town fixture, popular with the locals and people stopping on their way through.

You've done pieces like going to see Deadpool - Would that indicate that Daisy's Diner is set in present day?

jklind

Correct, except of course when I'm doing flashback stories
