I'm always thinking of new rewards to offer, and whether I can keep up with them...  that was a problem with monthly commissions last year - great reward, but I couldn't keep up.  With all the time I'm spending on 3D rigging and scripting, I'm wondering if I should be sharing my findings.  Something I learned just today might make a useful tutorial...

But another question is how useful these tutorials would actually be.  I use Maya, which can be expensive.  Maya LT is cheaper, but also lacks certain features.  Some of these tutorials may still be useful in other programs though, in a more general sense.

What do you think?

I'm kind of on the fence here. I used to do some 3D modeling but no longer have the programs available. I'd be somewhat less interested in 'how to model in Maya' and more 'How to make a good model' tutorials that teach core concepts.

Fortunately modeling is one of those things that's fairly universal. Whether you're using Maya, 3DSMax, or Blender, cutting edges and pulling points is the same. The flip-side is that modeling well is like drawing or anything else - it takes time and practice.

Well, it depends on whether your tutorials are more 'fundamentals of modeling' or 'how to do XYZ in Maya' is what I'm saying. If you're talking about tutorials about how to make sure you're not leaving weird polygons that's one thing, it's another if you're making a tutorial about how to use Maya to automatically fix weird polygons. :P

And that's where some careful planning will be needed.

will you upload like a Daisy 3-D model or other pre-rendered models?

I have been thinking about posting 3D models, but not any of my regular cast. Maybe something simpler, older characters I'm not using anymore, or even a patron-voted design.
