Your hypnotist uses a trigger to make things more... Real for you.

“Ah, lover, you’re going to need to hold still for this.” Your hypnotist said, casting an eye over you as they reached into their bag. “This -” They pulled their hand out, to reveal a knife, blade gleaming in the dim light. “is very sharp.” They came back closer to you, smiling.
“So, it wouldn’t take much to…” they placed the tip against your flank, above your ribs. “Cut you.” You tried to hold still, but you could feel the panic. The fear. You trusted them, but that was a knife. What if they slipped? You knew they could see it in your face. “In fact, Freeze.”
They snapped their fingers, still smiling. Instantly, your body went still, unable to move, unable to wriggle, or squirm. All you could do was feel it poking you. See them smirking down at you. “That’s it. Held perfectly still by my power. By my control. Such a good plaything.”
Their words were soothing. But the knife was still there. It was all you could think about. “And now I can just…” They began to trace it lightly over your skin, barely any pressure, so it wouldn’t cut you. “Without the fear of you moving.” A noise escaped your frozen vocal chords.
They laughed, pulling the knife back. “Awh, was that a whimper? Are you scared?” You wanted to nod. You were terrified. They placed their other hand on your cheek, comfortingly. “Don’t worry, plaything. I wouldn’t hurt you.” They placed the point of the knife against your chin.
The world narrowed to that one point. “No, this isn’t going to hurt one bit.” Something broke inside you. Drops fell from your eyes. “Oh, honey, are you crying? That’s so sweet. Hey, here, look at the knife.” They held it up before your eyes. “And feel your awareness return.”
They snapped their fingers again, and suddenly the gleaming metal was gone, replaced with dull wood. “See? Wooden. And whilst it’s sharpened a bit, it can’t cut you honey. Just poke, and scratch. Just a fun little trigger to make you feel a little more fear.”
