true story: i love the jungle. i was one of the last groups of soldiers to attend the Army's Jungle Training course in Panama. 3 weeks in an jungle completely devoid of an human influence or impact. in 3 weeks i was bitten by bugs the size of my hand. wounded and injured by plants with razor sharp leaves and needle like spines able to shred combat equipment and poke through leather combat boots. and the animals. vampire bats, jaguars, pythons and everything else you think of. imagine spending the night in a zoo with nothing between you and the animals. and it spanned hundreds of mile in every direction. in three weeks I was robbed by coatimundis, swam with hammerhead sharks, and attacked by howler monkeys (which may or may not have been my fault). it was, hands down, one of my favorite experiences of my life. if I ever get the chance to go back, i will probably never leave.
