You probably know this and ill try not to spoil. But eren hasnt always known. when he kissed historias hand is when he first realised about the potential of being able to know the future. and ill leave it at that.. theres more to figure out in later eps

David Morfin

main character to a whole new level lolll

Fernando

Eren hadn’t known since he was a kid, he found out what was going to happen after he kissed historias hand. He didn’t see his own future, he saw Grishas memories, and saw that he will inevitably influence grishas in his own future.

dontrell Durant

I'm still team Eren. All the way. Molly is so locked in. I think she'd love Death Note.

Fernando

In the moment Grisha sees Zeke, he is seeing through Erens eyes. (You’ll see that eren is watching them) and since grisha has the attack titan still, he could see into his future inheritors eyes.

I believe I do say that in the discussion of this video but glad to get confirmation! lol

Stacks

Grisha was able to see Zeke because Eren was showing grisha memories of that moment as it was happening. So for Eren it’s the “present” but for grisha it’s memories of the “future” which is the power of the attack titan. Which is also how he’s able to talk to grisha. Very confusing lol but love the reactions!

Modera

It's important to note that it's not time travel. Since the Attack titan can see the memories of its future inheritors, Grisha can see them through Eren's memories. So they are in Grisha's memories but Grisha can see them there from Eren's memories, it's a little complicated 😭

Man Lit

Awesome. btw Eren cannot see everything using the attack titan, he can only see what Grisha sees. He is sending memories back to Grisha; since he can see Grisha's memories, he can access his own future memories. Just a thing to keep in mind If you are ever confused later on, Both Eren and Grisha can't see everything with the attack titan power. Also, Grisha is only able to see Zeke because Eren is looking at Zeke and sending those memories to Grisha at that point so he can view Zeke. Grisha is seeing him through Eren's eyes. That is also why Grisha never comments on Eren's appearance since he sees things from his POV.

They should put a warning at the start of this episode, "WARNING. VIEW DISCRETION ADVISED. This episode has been known to melt brains". 😂 Also when I finished watching AoT for the first time I felt that no other show could satisfy me like AoT did story wise. Everything else just felt contrived, basic and grey compared to AoT's level of story telling. It truly is a hard act to follow. P.S. Just an idea. If you girl's want to have fun re-watching this show again maybe you can get your parents to watch it with you both? That would make for some cool react content. Especially if they make it as far as this episode. Just bring a bucket for when their brains get melted.

Dog_Chasing_Cars

He didn't directly influence kruger. but he did allow him to see memories of the future from his perspective. which is why he says the line "save armin and mikasa" followed by "whose memories are those" in S3E20. Meaning in a way, he was influencing from a distance. Eren also quotes these lines to his father which is likely why he chose to listen to eren. "didnt you start this story" etc etc. direct quotes from the owl. meaning they both had each-others memories. Grisha also quoted the owl when he gave the founding titan to eren. meaning they all shared the same sentiments through the attack titan and the founding titan. You have to take into account that he holds the attack titan which can glimpse into the future AND the founding titan. Eren did not always know - it was the interaction with historia at the end of season 3 that allowed him to learn of his own future.

Same here. Nothing hits quite like AOT. On all levels its just superior to everything else ive watched especially anime

Mesbah Mohamady

Great catch, Molly ! to remember the title of season 1 episode 1 ! And yes, in season 1 when Grisha was about to inject Eren he told him to save Mikasa and Armin ! THe same words Kruger (The Owl) told him !

Light Yagami

Happy early birthday to your dad he is a legend 😂

Finn

Ooowweee can’t wait for the next reaction

Light Yagami

Also to comment on your point - the only other show I can think of where the protagonist switches to antagonist is breaking bad

bread

Rewatching is 100% worth it, it's almost like a different show because you'll pick up on subtle stuff you couldn't have noticed on the first watch. Also, the dub is really good - I've watched both dub and sub, Erwin's English voice actor is a fan of the source material and worked on the English version of the dialogue.

Jimmy murillo

Y’all should use some this patreon money to get a better camera lol

Same here. For me, AOT is d best piece of fiction I have watched. Isayama had already written it so brilliantly, and then d show is able to somehow even elevate that (credits to d directors and d whole crew). Also, I haven't watched any other series dat has a soundtrack with such a large no. of awesome songs/OSTs along with the huge variety of genre it offers.

Brendan Falvy

Eren has known since he kissed Historia’s hand. I think to see these things as Eren’s actions/choices in the way we normally think of them isn’t quite sufficient. I think the reason we get Frieda going all Founding blue eyes talking about paying for their crimes, is to highlight the moment when Eren pushes Grisha. It’s the Titan within. And now the weird bit, because Eren is remembering Grisha who’s remembering Eren, both Grisha and Eren are experiencing the urge to do what has already been decided. That’s why we get the last line that Krueger said to Grisha repeated by Eren here. “Aren’t you the one who started this story?” Another way to see it is, don’t pretend you didn’t come here to do this. Don’t lie about what you did and try to convince yourself otherwise. It’s all an allegory for personal and intergenerational trauma.

Brendan Falvy

Another thing to think about is that Grisha already had the Attack Titan when Eren was conceived… don’t know what if anything that affects. Just putting out a little random food for thought.

Kim555

I can't wait for the next episodes. I'm even more hyped about the movies

Phong Vang

One of the most important episodes of AoT. You were either 100% a Jaegerist or your thoughts of what a true Yaegerist were and your dedication to Eren were shaken to the core. To quote Molly from episode 5, "YOU EVIL MOTHERF**KER, I LOVE YOU!!" Ride the wave of emotion! It doesn't stop!!! TATAKAE!!!!!

J

Erens only known since after he kissed historias hand. That's why they showed his face like that in that scene except at that point the audience didn't know what he saw. That's why he had such a change in personality in the last ep of s3 to where he is now In s4.

Miles and Miles

Fun Fact: Eren entered Isayama's memories and forced him to write this story

Zade T

Grisha VA went nuts

DanKnee

Nothing like AOT. Just a one of one.

Anthony Orozco

No reaction is the best reaction, that’s how you know shit hit the fan 🤣😭

Anthony Orozco

No one will know what’s going on in erens head till the final episode, since the start of s4 😭

Maraka

'He was born into this world, that doesn't mean he was born good!' Now this sentence had no business being this funny lmaooo

migmigson

the concept of grisha being able to "see" zeke is SO complicated but also somehow so freaking clean and beautiful??? What an insane piece of writing. I think what's so crazy about it is grisha wouldn't have been able to see any of eren's memories of doing this Christmas Carol shit if Zeke hadn't pulled him into it, so really Zeke enabled Eren to influence Grisha to kill the royal family. ~~~JUST NUTS~~~

Equinox

This episode made Eren one of the best written characters in fiction and for me top 3 anime characters. Isayama is such a genius in writing characters!

Fred Cheung

Loved seeing your guy's jaws drop.

jojoey

The show just gets unhinged from here;-;

Mesbah Mohamady

Don't forget the post credit scenes is episodes: 23 27 30

David Jørgensen

You could hear the rumbling in the background when Grisha talked to miss whatshername... oh no noo :O It's not a spoiler...

Reggie Azem

Hopefully by the end of the show, the ladies understand that this isn't about about good vs bad, right vs wrong, as in life, nothing is so black and white, just shades of gray.

jastop94

Looking back onto this now that you are done, I always find that this is an act of good faith from Eren. He, did this as a form of closure for both Zeke and Grisha. Where he allowed them both to understand one another and actually feel the love that they actually both had for each other. It is both sad and touching at the same time. That they are separated by misunderstandings and the world they are born to. Yet, in the end, Eren actually gave them a means to have this moment in time even if a short one in order for them to understand that they did have deep affections for one another and that they can understand each other's mistakes.
