NO SPOILERS: this show is loosely based off of real historical events, real historical figures, and real places. some things are "anime-ified" and some things are based off of viking myths and legends! Also like you said, this show is most definitely more about characters' development, rather than the action itself. BUT there is some really good action :)

Some things in the show are based off historical things that have happened, and some things are definitely a different alternate reality to what occurred in those timeframes. So it'll be interesting. Also, this is a Seinen vice a shounen, where character development and philosophical ideas are more paramount to the story than the action is.

Also, Leif Erickson in history was the viking that discovered North America at approximately 1000 AD, and they did end up calling it Vinland

Normally hate leaving comments anywhere lol - I try not to let any media dictate how I feel/think, but Vinland saga and AOT are the exception - This show does a good job at exploring the dynamic between men and their fathers/father figures and how it can affect you (especially as you grow older) - without spoiling anything; I find this show very relatable with how characters evolve with their circumstances as well as how their their world view changes with all the bullshit that come with being alive - hope you guys enjoy the series 🤙🏽

A bit of a shame Courtney isn't joining yas for this ep but I suppose you two do enough talking and reacting equivalent to 4 people ahaha

No spoilers. But, Vinland Saga explores the answers for the questions and dilemmas posed by AoT.
