I appreciate how layered Thragg is. The mercy he shows for Thaedus results in his leaders death, he then overcompensates by culling the ‘weak’ from his people, to finally having the youngest member of his species in his hands about to kill him only to be reminded of his purpose to ensure the survival of his species, such an interesting villain.

So the rough timeline goes as such: Thaedus assassinates Emperor Argall, because Thragg hesitated to act upon Thaedus' anti-empire rhetoric. Thragg, now Grand Regent, orders the purging of the weakness that allowed Thaedus' betrayal, i.e. the hesitation to kill a Viltrumite that could harm the empire. The purge lasts for some and cuts the Viltrumite population in half. The Viltrum empire then expands further into the galaxy during the following years. Some time later, on Nolan's 18th birthday, the scurge virus is released by Thaedus and eradicates the Viltrumite population from billions to maybe a hundred or so. Further Viltrumites are then killed during the short period after recovery from the virus where their powers are weakened. There are now only about 50 Viltrumites left in the universe. Some 980 years pass and Nolan is sent to earth to see whether humans can serve to replenish the Viltrumite numbers via interbreeding.

Space Racer only rarely fires the infinity ray because it fires some form of anti-matter that literally goes on forever. Aim in the wrong direction and you'll accidentally destroy a planet or entire star somewhere further in the distance. Its immense power is the exact reason it can’t just be wild-fired like a tommy gun.

I've watched this show/episode like 40 times and I still have no idea why Viltrumites makes the choices they make. But that's the point- they're inherently flawed. Cant wait for episode 8 :^)

it has nothing to do with recharging, he doesn't want to endlessly spam fire and destroy other planets. he also can't kill thragg because he's too fast. and as far as the purge, thragg ordered that to get rid any viltrumite like thadeus that showed compassion and mercy

Using Space Racer's laser gun to kill Thragg is way harder said than done. The dude is ridiculously fast. Even compared to other viltrumites. If Space Racer fires at Thragg and misses, then Thragg will instantly go for him and kill him. They have to be extemely careful.

I know pausing messes up the syncing but if there are going to be conversations that aren’t related to show, maybe pausing for a bit would be helpful because a massive plot point for Thragg’s actions and motivations was talked over and led to confusion.

It seems like they either lost interest in the show or they were forced to watch it because the patron members suggesting it. Someone commented that Molly wasn’t pay attention for half of the episode; seems like Courtney is probably the only one paying attention.

They explained the laser in s3 I think. Certain conditions have to be met to fire it, so it cannot be spammed. Still absurdly broken tho, and tbh its not portrayed well in the show because they do a poor job of maintaining it's consistency (:

i agree, molly never really pays attention she’s always on her phone or talking about something random. i do also agree that courtney really seems to be the only who tries to pay attention, she makes really good points sometimes too

Seems to be an issue with the entire channel. I've only seen their reaction to Invincible and The Boys and they have the tendency to start rambling about random, unrelated things during major lore/plot drops, then when those play out they spend the whole scene repeatedly asking "Huh? What's going on? Why are they doing this?" Then when people call them out for not paying attention, they give some excuse and double down.

The budget/cast isn’t exactly to blame for the animation quality, it’s mainly the time they have to make it. The show could easily have better quality with either hiring a bigger animation team to help lift the burden of the short deadline or simply giving them more time.

Before you read this just know I hate complaining and I rarely do this but you guys should really be writing down thoughts and having a discussion at the end. This is genuine criticism to help you make your posts better so sorry if it comes off as annoying but I’ve seen many others that agree and have the same feelings. If you guys were talking for a second about something that is happening in the show and its a quick thought and then you continue to pay attention we would be much happier, Lia you guys don’t pay attention for at least a quarter of the reaction, that’s why we are upset. Talking about random things like fortnite and hair, not just passing mentions mind you but full on tangents about such for upwards of a minute or two and because of that missing important scenes is a disservice to the reaction and to paying patrons (you guys literally had no idea what was going on once you finally tuned back in after talking about fortnite lmao). If you guys aren’t interested in a show then don’t continue the reaction. You guys can say no to shows/movies and honestly it would probably be a lot better for your channels growth and would be more genuine if it meant you only react to things you’re willing to pay attention to as I will not be renewing after this. The long wait for releases only for you guys to not pay attention to so much of the episodes and the clear disinterest and then continuing to miss dialogue/scenes because you guys are talking for two minutes about completely unrelated stuff and then criticizing everything that happens because you don’t understand after missing the explanations or pertaining dialogue is really annoying as an avid reaction watcher. I genuinely want to watch you guys react, review and re-view the show through you guys and I was super excited for these reactions only to be disappointed. If I were to go back and make a compilation of your complaints and misunderstandings throughout the entire series because you were talking throughout important sequences I would have literal hours and hours of footage.

Also just to mention space racer cannot keep up with the speed of viltrumites, I understand a lot of people take things at face value but do not relate the animation to the actual speed of everything going on in the show, the viltrumites especially are extremely fast but if they animated at the actual speed of everything going on then it would all just be a blur and we wouldn’t see anything, shows like this and superhero’s in general are always toned down so that us as viewers can actually see and comprehend what’s going on. A good example is right after Thaddeus is killed and Thragg flys at Nolan it shows a scene soon after of them clearly very very very far away space wise from the now destroyed Viltrium which is a clear indication they are moving at a speed we can’t comprehend. Just like in episode 5 when Oliver couldn’t keep up with Mark and Conquest because they were moving almost entirely across a WHOLE planet at immense speed. If you guys try to open your mind and recognize animation and shows in general just can’t show the genuine speed that is supposed to be portrayed because every fight would be over in minutes with us unable to see anything that happened it’s much easier and enjoyable to watch without criticizing certain things.

They have done it to pretty much every series sadly. You gotta just accept they will miss a decent chuck of the show and be confused most of the time. The reactions are dope but every now an then you'll get the good ol "this dosent make sense" when in reality they were talking through it or being distracted.

I get what ur saying but you can’t just tell them how to react to a show. Like everybody has a different way of reacting to shows. And you can tell they clearly are enjoying watching it. And the “tangents” Idk if you’ve ever watched a show with your friends but you do tend to talk more over the show.

If only there was a huge monologue before the culling explaining why they felt it was necessary. I know I am late but this is the most frustrating reaction I have ever seen. Completely talking about important monologue and then being confused about whats happening without even considering that it was explained, being distracted with other things for half the episode and so on. Just drop the show if you are not interested and watch something else.

I am not sure why you are all confused about The Purge. First, it was mentioned in previous seasons. Nolan talked of it and it was said that ot resulted in the death of half of their population. As to why it happened, Thragg's speech said why. He told them to find the weakness within their ranks and remove it like a cancer. Basically survival of the fittest. Those that survived would be the strongest and most loyal to the empire.

This is exactly why I am cancelling my membership. I like there dynamic, but I cannot get past them always being lost and confused. And almost every time, it is their fault, because they miss the explanations. It would be one thing if it was always the show they were discussing, but half the time it is something else that the show made them think of. There are even times they realize they missed what was said, but can't be bothered to back up 10 seconds to hear what it was. This would be the best reaction channel if they just paid attention.

@LiaFiore I respectfully disagree with you. We did not have trouble following the show and get confused often. The show does a very good job of explaining itself. This issue that you, Molly, and Courtney have is that you all regularly talk over these explanations, which then leaves you without the information you need to understand what is going on. You all also seem to regularly forget what has happened in previous episodes and seasons. The show regularly does things to set up stuff for later in a season or a following season. The show is very straightforward and easy to follow if you don't miss all of the important dialogue.
