Cherry Bomb is not better than Wolf in my opinion. On this album he is on his « experimental bag » so be ready before doing this album.

some fun facts after you finished the trilogy in the working storyline, goblin actually comes after wolf, cause the transition into wolf from bastard and the end of wolf into goblin actually makes sense. that might be why the album ending felt inconclusive. every ending track name goes before the starting track: inglorious bastard (movie reference), golden goblin, lone wolf. basically all the main characters in tyler’s albums are alter egos. they’re great exaggerations of different sides of him. from here and out, his artistic evolution only becomes more and more apparent. flower boy and farther is all peak pretty much. igor is one of the best concept albums of all time, it won a grammy, and the album after won one too. you should be prepared for cherry bomb, the album after this, cause it’s definitely all that you’re not expecting (i like it (not more than wolf)) although anything is better than goblin so dont expect it to be super super bad. it’s just very out there sometimes, but it’s got its bangers. as you can tell, im enjoying the tyler journey. these are so peak, keep it up ❤️ 7415

Tyler's last album where he was actually himself an didn't make pop music for teenagers

I second what Nathan Pyke commented

I’ll try to explain a little of the goblin love.. you kinda had to be there. At the time most ppl didn’t hear bastard first bc Tyler didn’t blow up till goblin specifically Yonkers put him on the map (west coast kids were on it earlier tho). So most ppl were hearing the best of both albums but I think associate everything early Tyler with the goblin era. At the time there was nothing like it in rap. They have this cool I don’t give a fuck attitude and were doing crazy antics, funny ass interviews, and making wild music videos that ppl legitimate questioned what was real. The internet was different back then lol. The sound was so incredibly different from what rap was at that time. I watched your 50 Cent massacre reaction too and that was only 4 years before bastard. So the novelty of it also carried. Being a teen then, there was just nothing like it. Not to mention the independence they had. They made everything themselves and it was difficult for the established culture to understand it, and we just wanted to be apart of it. They had a lot of influence from alt skater anti-establishment culture at the time which again, was new for rap. Some (not all) of the songs you didn’t like, back then were great on stage like ppl moshed to it. For rap fans, many of us never experienced anything like that before and we were teens. Now that stuff is common place but there’s no doubt a lot of that influence came from them. When bitch suck dick come on and everyone was going fucking crazy, you quickly understand why it was liked so much. As Tyler rightly so matured musically and personally (he was still edgy af) fans didn’t like the new direction. Some og fans never came around again or it took years for them too, they just missed that time, It was childhood. Goblin to many isn’t as much about the album as it is a moment in time that represented a lot. I myself often think in my head that it’s one of his best but then going back it’s like yeaaa the nostalgia was clearly carrying. It’s always gonna be special but it’s clearly not his best work. He’ll be the first to tell ya too.
