Whenever you finish this series you're probably going to want to rewatch it and you should just do the dub. The entire show changes once you understand everything and the 2nd watch is as good as the first time because of the context.

I gotta say Erwin’s dub VA did a good job but y’all dub defenders gotta chill 😂 the Japanese voice actors are listened to by every country in the world while the English dub is only listened by English speakers. It’s a completely different show in English dub than the studio intended

AoT dub is actually really good compared to many other shows. i watched it both in sub and dub and man, there were some moments in dub that are AMAZING. people just like to hate on dub for absolutely no reason at all lol

As much as I like the sub it impossible for it to be factually better. Especially a for high quality like Attack on titan. Theyre are some issue with translation i agree Especially involving gender based things but for the most part the dub is 9 out for 10

Factually yes. If you speak english and not japanese, then the Dub is objectively better, since the subtitles need to literally translate the japanese while the Dub is tailored to fit the narrative instead of what is being said in another language.

In the scene where Erwin is standing on the mountain of fallen soldiers the Dub's wording hits harder. Everything with Kenny is also more awesome in the Dub + what Rod Reiss says makes more sense (probably irrelevant at this point since you understand it by now).

I don't think the issue is whether or not the translations are accurate, it's more of the voices fitting the characters more and the dub sounding cringe at some parts, I mean over all I think the aot dub is pretty good, but in a lot of cases in anime it's not, and for eren's VA I think most agree the sub is wayyyy better. Erwin's and Levi's VA in dub in aot is as good or ever so slightly worse than the sub imo.

No, I speak Japanese and the directing and voice acting in general is better in the sub. For example, I think Connie's English VA is good, but the directing makes him say lines in a campy way. English Connie sounds like deku lmao. However the dub isn't bad, it's actually pretty good. Erwin's VA knocked it out of the park. Better in dub hands down.

Dubbed Erwin is so peak idc he's obviously amazing in his OG Japanese VA but ddduuuudddeeeee English Erwin is something else he rips my soul apart with his vocalizations and voice inflections, he went so hard with this role. Dub RAGE speech always makes me cry. Thats the only character I would say I really do prefer dubbed in this show, I just really love how he's shown. Overall though, I'd say the OG VAs outshine their counterparts. Eren's scream laugh after Hannes !!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely has to be watched in sub. Each version of AOT has their moments its so worth rewatching in English it's like watching a new show

No not factually for example in summer timer render there is one English voice actor who sounds like he was forced to be there and would do the worse job possible due to obligation It ruins the show in the dub for me. And also in the dub western translator are not translating theyre localizing which mean they can change what something means if they dont like it for example that one dragon maid anime where they change dialog to push an agenda.

I will say dub for season 1 definitely wasn’t that good. But as the show progressed the dub got much much better. And dub is so good now that lowkey some shows like Solo Leveling and Chainsaw Man have better dub the sub

Also bc aot is unique in the sense that each time u rewatch it—it feels like a different experience compared to before. Think of how many times things just didn't make sense. Bc the audiences worldview was just as small as the characters living it. When u know the truth, everything u didn't get before feels like a completely new scene. And every piece of foreshadowing that flew over our heads gives instant chills n a newfound appreciation for how much heart n soul Isayama poured into this story. It's not even a discussion. The only reason dub is preferred by some, is because most likely they're native to English. Anything other than that, challenges their ego in an uncomfortable way, that doesn't allow for them to grasp the emotion that is being presented beyond just words, beyond just meaning. Just like a vibe, you don't explain it words, you feel it. To feel you need to let go, which most English natives and those who're used to only DUB, cannot appreciate the money right in front of them because it's not the right green..

Junie I'm from Japan & have lived in Canada for the past 15 years, I can tell you it's cringe in both, but overall the sub is much more cringe enducing for me as a native speaker, I specifically watch comedy anime in English because the jokes come across better because I underdstand it now. Was literally thinking about how the charge episode is better in dub and wish you would get to see it, and here we are! Not everything is better in the dub but that specific episode, and also I think Sasha's backstory with her Dad is better in dub. His accent feels less goofy than reading the southern subtitles lol and also his speech is better!

little late but i would say the dub version of Mikasa yelling at Historia to pick sides when Ymir is riding on Reiners back in titan form during the same episode of Erwins advance scene is really good.
