Verti when you look back now you can tell this current guy was not Geto because the real Geto calls humans "Monkeys" this fake Geto simply calls them "non-sorceres", he has never once called humans monkeys. I remember on my first watch of JJK when I saw Gejo in the Movie calling people Monkeys I was kind of shocked like "whoa this guy discriminates?" it was a huge shock to me because the villain I had known up to that point was very calm cool and collected so Geto's actual personality threw me off especially with his sanitizers that he used every time he was near a human in the movie, Of course I didn't think it was a different person at the time but I remember thinking wow this guy is not as calm as I thought.

Sorry this is gonna be long but as someone who studied linguistic a bit, this is interesting to me haha. So about the random english words you hear in Japanese OST, it's because Japanese actually got a lot of English Loanwords that they used in their daily life, like cofee > co-hee, hotel > hoteru, but i think mostly we see it even more in Anime OSTs because English words are viewed more as fasionable, trendy, and educated. Japanese people don't really need actual English in their daily life, but it's also one of the mandatory subjects in school (it still doesn't mean everyone is good at English just like how most people suck at Maths, me included lmaoooo). Also especially nowadays with the globalization thanks to the internet, i think a lot of japanese kids learn a lot more english from all the global content they consumed as well. When i went to Tokyo last year, i can get by ok with just english when i had to buy something from the store. A lot of the younger staff can speak coversational english. I'm thai and i feel like i can kinda understand the sentiment first hand. English isn't our national language, but it's also mandatory like in Japan, and a lot of educated thai people who studied oversea tend to mix some english words in when they speak thai as well. It's called code-mixing or code-switching (it means when you use more than 1 language in the convo) which is very common in bilingual or multilingual community. This is because a lot of the times, there are some concept that's best described in one language that's hard or too complexed/annoying to convey in another language. It might turn a 1 word into 5 words for example. Sometimes you also can't think of a word in 1 language so you just say whatever come first to your mind, when both parties know that alternative language. To sum it up, they just use it in anime songs bc it sounds cool and prob match the rythm/rhyme lmaooooo i feel like they also ads it to mix things up too bc i feel like japanese artists like to keep changing things to keep the song layered and not feel too simple thank you for coming to my tedtalk

so Verti the prison realm needs 1 minute of real time to pass and because of Gojos six eyes that real life 1 minute is only about few seconds for him(because he perceives everything much quicker) thats why "Geto" needed Gojo to be on the edge right after doing something so tiring, so that 0.2 second domain + 300 seconds of killing curses + emotional aspect of him seeing his friend who he killed made it possible for him to be sealed. This would be impossible any other way, because again, 1 minute for everyone else is like 5 seconds to Gojo. just clearing ts up again in case you missed something my genius king

You got the conclusion almost correct, i just wanna clarify the "1 minute" thing haha To be precise, it's "1 minute in the target's mind" and not "1 minute in real world" because saying 1 minute in real world implied it's objective 1 minute which wouls be the same for everyone. The prison realm measures the time based on the target's perception of time, so 1 minute for Gojo is just a few seconds in real life bc he's HIM(six eyes which means in his mind everything is slowed down because of how fast he process information, so he has more time IN HIS MIND compared to outside world) and yeah, it's that guy's plan to exhaust and surprise Gojo with Geto's body to stunlocked Gojo for a few second by giving him geto ptsd lmao.

Fun fact: gege Akutami, the creator of jujutsu Kaisen did not like gojo, He frequently expressed that Satoru Gojo's overwhelming strength made writing the plot and maintaining tension very difficult because he made him way too strong of a character, meaning that the villains of the story doesn’t be as threatening to the main cast,when he’s around,also making it hard for other characters to shine. Great summary. Japanese also has many other particularly interesting uses of English that are somewhat unique to how English as a global lingua franca has entered Japanese culture. There’s even a Japanese word for the phenomenon you describe related to English being ”stylish” called ”kazari eigo” (decorative English), which is where people will put English words on products or in songs because it sounds/looks cool, sometimes even if they don’t understand the meaning. Another fun concept in Japanese is ”wasei eigo” (Japanese-made English), which are English loanwords that have been adopted into Japanese and changed meaning, so they become part of the Japanese language as their own entity separate from how the individual parts are used in English. Some examples are サラリーマン (salary man, meaning white collar worker), コンセント (consent, meaning electrical socket, from ’concentric plug’), or my favorite パイプカット (pipe cut, meaning vasectomy lmao). As for the anime openings, it is also sometimes because English is seen as easier to market abroad. Just look at the Korean K-Pop industry and their use of English in pretty much every song. Some bands like BTS have entire songs in English even though most of the band members don’t speak the language. I’d say that in Japan it is often an artistic choice because the artist likes the sound of certain words. Thanks for coming to my extended TedTalk 🤪

Blue is his normal technique which uses cursed energy which is NEGATIVE energy. Red uses reverse cursed technique which is POSITIVE energy. The rest is basic maths, negative times negative= positive. I really appreciate your insights and would definitely attend your tedtalk LMAO On the topic of English loanwords with different meanings from the original language, we have something similar in Thai as well! So in Thai we used the word "fan" to mean a romantic partner that's less serious/commitment than wife/husband so i guess it would be similar to boyfriend/girlfriend but gender-neutral. I find it quite adorable that my parents still refer to each other as that to strangers even though they have been married for 30+ years lmaoooo it would be like if your mom refers to your dad as her "boyfriend" in English. Also fun fact, Thailand has this tradition of giving a nickname to your child when they are born! I heard Vietnam does this as well. My Vietnamese friend nickname is "tôm" which means shrimp! but i think it's mostly used within the family though, so idk if it's comparable to Thai because we use our nickname EVERYWHERE lmaooo This might be due to the fact that Thai first names are a bit long and are treated as something you would mostly use in formal situation. For example, my first name is นราวิชญ์ (Naravich), so it's a lot quicker and easier to use my nickname (NJ) in texts and convo. We also don't refer to someone with their last name like AT ALL. Idk why though LOL. Our last names are also VERY unique to each family, and you almost never encounter someone outside your family with the same last name (or even first name tbh because they used the same technique to create). We don't have a common reused last names like in the west? It's mostly sanskrit and pali words jumbled together to create a good meaning for good furtune lmao. I guess it's kinda similar to how Japanese last names are a combination of Kanji or something?? Anyway, back to the nickname topic, most of these nicknames are in English nowadays. Even back in my time (bruh im 30?? I feel so old), there are quite a lot of English nickname. Common examples are Ball, Golf, Ice, Beer, Bank, New, First. These are VERY common and there's probably at least 1 of these in your class back in school lmaooooo. It's actually very weird looking at it from an outsider perspective because these are just some random English word HAH but even Thai nickname can be just as random. Most of them are like ฟ้า(Fah = Sky), พลอย (Ploy = Gem), เล็ก(Lek = Small), น้ำ (Nam = Water). My Thai best friend nickname is literally just "Boss" lmaooo so everyone is just calling him boss whenever they call him. Being honest this one of the most terrible plot devices. Like they wrote it so the prison realm doesn't seem like this busted thing. Then they attach a rule that logically makes no sense and completely annihilate the thing that makes it not a busted plot convenience. Like if I remember something it changes how much time has passed in my mind? How does the six eyes make ones brain process more info and what does the amount of info my brain has processed have to do with the amount of time passes in my mind? It makes no sense. Unless it attaches some arbitrary type of this amount of information equals 1 second but them anyone having a memory would immediately trigger it so really is a busted plot device because what really triggers it has nothing to do with time and is actually just an information processing limit

1:38:00 the weakest Red he can use is twice as strong as the weakest Blue he can use cause (my guess?) when you amplify you only need to increase the amount (-1, -2, -3, -4, ...), but you need to multiply cursed energy by itself to get positive energy (1, 4, 9, 16, ...) Blue is his Cursed Technique (uses normal -energy), Red is his Cursed Technique Reversal (uses +energy)

“Reversal” is just another name for that red little sphere Gojo uses, “Amplification” is that big blue orb he rarely uses, both are the same cursed techniques just different applications of it

to the "how does six eyes make the brain process more info" part, thats not new for this scene, thats literally already six eyes' whole established trait since intro, atomic level perception of cursed energy flow, thats why he reacts to stuff nobody else can. and "what does info processed have to do with time passing in my mind" isnt some jjk only rule either, its real time dilation, people in adrenaline spikes or near death experiences report time slowing down bc the brain is encoding more detail per second than normal, gojo's baseline is just that cranked up permanently. the "if I remember something it triggers it" part is the misread tho, its not "having a memory," its magnitude, hes already gassed from wiping out 1000 transfigured humans in 299 straight seconds with his guard down, and right after that geto shows up and floods him with 3 years of memories all at once. and its not just any shock either, its literally his best friend, who he killed with his own hands, standing alive in front of him, thats about as heavy an emotional spike as this series could possibly throw at him. that combo is an entirely different scale of info dump than just recalling something randomly, which is exactly why it only worked in this one specific engineered moment and not literally any other point in the whole series.

good breakdown overall but small correction on terminology, red isnt RCT (reversed cursed technique), its CTR (cursed technique reversal). RCT is the base ability of converting negative CE into positive energy, mainly used for healing, shoko's the best pure user of that. CTR is a separate rarer thing, applying that same reversal principle directly onto your own cursed technique to flip its properties, not just heal with it. gojo's a perfect example, blue is his normal technique and its attraction, apply CTR to it and you get red, same doubled CE output you mentioned but now its repulsion instead, the property itself flips not just the polarity of the energy. same mechanism you described just the wrong label on the result, theyre two different named techniques in the actual material not interchangeable terms quick clarification since the names are easy to mix up: CTR = cursed technique reversal, applying the reversal principle to your own cursed technique to invert its property (blue to red) RCT = reversed cursed technique, converting negative CE into positive energy, mainly for healing (shoko, base RCT for gojo before he awakened CTR) outside of the naming mix up tho your actual point still holds, the output doubling and why gojo wouldnt risk using red in that crowd still checks out, if hes already holding back on blue in fear of hitting civilians hes definitely not reaching for something twice as destructive

English is also the international language for business, so most countries know a lot of English words, even if they can't speak it. 19:27 - Kuroko sato is a character from Yu Yu Hakusho, one of the greatest shonen anime of all time (we'll vote on you to watch it eventually😌) & a big influence for jjk. Gojos flash back of his time with Geto stemmed back a few years, which satisfied the “one minute” condition required for the realm to activate. See, the Japanese have put English into especially anime, but music in general, for a long time. The reason *I* surmised is because Japanese and English, despite having totally different WORDS, share a very similar pronunciation - the layout of vowels and consonants are very similar. Compare Japanese to any other Asian language - it's not even close. Japanese is a strange language - but it's a pretty sexy one imo. I like both English and Japanese - and while I'm fluent in English, Japanese is the only Asian language I can pick up on and remember easily. This is just my assumption - but if you compare Japanese to Korean or Chinese, it becomes VERY obvious VERY fast. It's not like other Asian languages, for whatever reason. So - it makes sense that they'd pick up on English and start to like it. Both languages do very similar things, despite being totally separate in development and writing and everything. I like it, cuz Japanese words for mundane things like "fire" or tons of other things, can sound really cool in OUR alphabet - and look cool actually - and surely they notice it. It makes those "special moves" some anime shout go from "just some silly named move" to sounding ...kinda badass. I mean, they obviously know. If they didn't, there wouldn't be so many anime who have literally mundane, boring translations shouted before the move with such enthusiasm.

Anime has this thing, where sometimes a re-watch can be even better than the initial watch - sometimes the first time is priceless, of course - but sometimes the re-watch makes you realize stuff, and see things differently, and it blows your mind. I re-watched MOST of AoT with you watching it for the first time - and there were SEVERAL points where I was like "...what the fuck? really?" - in a complex story/plot, sometimes you don't notice things - and because the author is a maniac, that minor thing can make all the difference in the world. Just wait til the actual day you decide to rewatch something and binge it - you might just come away from that with a whole new kinda feeling. It happens for sure - probably because some anime authors are psychopaths... in a good way.

Solo Leveling, despite the stupid and generic premise, would have been far better for him. Chainsaw man - I guess I just won't ever be a huge fan of it. It's ok. It's got some good aspects, but it's not my thing. I guess. Several anime that seem like they'll be generic and boring do it very well though - Solo Leveling is a great one. Less meaningful, perhaps, than some, but not entirely. It's a different ...aspect of the "power fantasy". I think he might enjoy Re:Zero a lot. For whatever reason - where the MC has NO superpower, except for a most traumatic one. That anime is kind of nuts really. I ...don't think I could be Subaru. I'd be in a fucking institution. Re:Zero seems silly at first glance - but then it makes you think "...what the fuck. No way" - could YOU capitalize on that? (provided you've seen it) - I really don't think that "power" would do me that much good, after a couple uh, attempts. ...I'd end up being institutionalized at BEST - and at worst I'd be executed. I've never been brutally murdered even once. I'd like to keep it that way for a reason... ...and if I were actually executed - what exactly would that mean for me? It's not a great thought if you actually put yourself in his shoes... god damn.
