PD 48 Finale

Produce 48 was quite a show. Scandal and frustration aside, I can't deny that it was always a fun watch. Spoiler warning, I guess, but if you're interested in a "Where Are They Now" recap of the winners: - Wonyoung debuted in IVE and has since become arguably the most popular idol in Korea outside of maybe IU and the Black Pink girls. She has a million brand deals and a successful career with her group. - Sakura returned to Japan to finish her commitments with HKT48 before graduating in 2021. In 2022, she returned to Korea and debuted with Le Sserafim on the condition that, even if she was the oldest, she would not be the leader. - Yuri still releases music sparingly, but it seems like she might be leaning more toward acting, and she was recently in the second season of Squid Game. - Yena has launched a very successful solo career both in music and variety, she recently held her first ever solo concerts in both Korea and Japan. They never went into it in the show (surprisingly for MNet), but Yena is a childhood cancer survivor (hence the scar on her neck) and was paralyzed in a skiing accident when she was younger as well. Her brother was also in a failed group, so her parents did not want her to try becoming an idol, so her career and generally upbeat nature are really something else. - Yujin has also debuted in IVE alongside Wonyoung and is one of the most popular idols in Kpop, especially since joining the cast of the variety show Earth Arcade in 2022. - Nako graduated from HKT48 in 2022 and seems like she is focusing on acting and hosting jobs in Japan. - Eunbi is a very popular soloist who has also gotten a lot of work modeling and just recently started acting. She was briefly the host of the radio show Young Street, taking over for Wendy until Wendy returned. She rose to another level of fame after her performances at the Waterbomb music festival went viral. - Hyewon seems to be mostly focusing on acting and modeling these days. She's recently achieved some acclaim for her performances in the series Boyhood and Friendly Rivalry. - Hitomi returned to Japan where she resumed work with AKB48, where she became one of the more popular members. She announced her graduation at the beginning of 2024 and returned to Korea to debut with the group Say My Name. - Chaewon left Woolim in early 2022 and signed a contract with Source Music where she debuted as the leader of Le Sserafim. She's become especially popular internationally. - Minju was primarily an actress before Produce 48 and returned to acting after IZ*ONE disbanded. I know she's done quite a bit of work lately, but I mostly know her from The Forbidden Marriage, for which she won an acting award. - Chaeyeon, of course, went on to become a soloist and do some hosting and variety show work, which you already know from Queendom Puzzle. Post-IZ*ONE groups and soloists (Not Counting Japanese Groups as most of those girls returned to their group in some way shape or form): IVE (Wonyoung, Yujin) Le Sserafim (Sakura, Chaewon, Yunjin) Say My Name (Hitomi) Rocket Punch (Juri, Suyun)* Cherry Bullet (Haeyoon)* Lightsum (Chowon, Nayoung, Yujeong) Fanatics (Doah)* Fromis_9 (Gyuri)* Everglow (Sihyeon, Yiren) Purple Kiss (Goeun, Jieun [Jieun has since left]) Bugaboo (Eunchae, Choyeon)* Aqua (Haesol)* Secret Number (Minji, Jinny) Gen1es (Wang Ke)^ Queenz Eye (Damin)* Kep1er (Dayeon) H1-Key (Seunghyeon aka Riina from Queendom Puzzle) Alice/Elris (Chaejoeng) BlingBling (Yubin)* * Group has disbanded ^ Thai group Soloists Yena Yuri Eunbi Hyewon Minju Chaeyeon Miru Seoyoung Alexa Christine (aka AleXa/Kim Serii) Thanks for all your reactions!

I had to watch this one in multiple parts myself, kudos for watching it all in one go! I already posted the unfortunate rigging news in the Discord and Matt covered the "Where Are They Now" good news so I don't have much else to say. I had fun learning some new favorite idols and getting to know some that I already knew even better through this show. Looking forward to any IZ*ONE music reactions in the future (and hope we can eventually finish I.O.I's music too lol).
