Phew! It’s a good thing Cornelia got Ruby to stop chucking Zaphira like that before she went into projectile vomit mode. That would’ve been disgusting! 🤢 Although I’m willing to bet that Emery is probably booing just off-screen at that quick save. Considering the fact she seems like someone who’d be willing to make a joke out of everywhere, if she could, I wouldn’t put it past her to play the role of a chaos gremlin for a cheap laugh. Also, good on you Cornelia, telling Ivy how it is and accepting your sisters choice for her groom without hesitation. On another note, folks I don’t know if any of you pay attention to subtle background details with characters in particular but, check out the look on Cornelia’s face after she catches Zaphira and watches her sister getting ready to ambush Shen. From that half-lidded look of her eyes, you can just HEAR the exasperated sigh of exhaustion from having to deal with Ruby’s shenanigans, and considering the fact she’s the only other member of the Zodiac Sisters to have the kind of body type she has, you just know she’s usually the only real one of her sisters that’s sufficiently able to keep up with Ruby and make sure her actions don’t cause something to be broken or someone to get seriously hurt. In fact, this whole page really exemplifies the difference between these two and their personalities in particular. One of the comments that responded to the ref sheet for Venus and Cornelia when describing the latter and Ruby said something along the lines of “Ruby got strong to look cool. Cornelia got strong because she had to.” This page pretty much proves that comment correct and it already shows. Ruby is someone who got buff because she LOVES getting and keeping in shape and challenging herself any way she can, and also may be a little bit TOO obsessed with muscles and exercise in general, if that one Q&A where she showed Shen and Zaphira her artistic interpretation of the “ideal” way they should look and make love with each other and that other one where she is LITTERALLY kissing her own weights like they’re her boyfriend is to be considered. While I can say it’s good she’s managed to get herself her ideal body after what had to have been years of serious work,(and look damn good in that form on top of that) on the flipside, this has clearly led to a personality that’s very friendly and happy-going, but also one that can be very overexcited or hyperactive at the worst of times, seems to completely lack restraint and often shows no signs of slowing down and can lead to the detriment, physically usually, of those she interacts with, especially without someone like Cornelia to counteract and balance her out. Not to mention, due to clearly having taken part in some gladiatorial challenges, if the outfit she wore when we first met her is to be considered, her ideas of “fun” seem to boil down to activities that most NORMAL people would see as either “dangerous”, “insane”, “painful” or “F*CKING NUTS”. If she did these activities with her fellow warriors or even someone like, let’s say Hercules, or Cornelia as we saw before, this wouldn’t be a problem. Except here she is doing this stuff with Zaphira and now about to with Shen, two people who aren’t nearly as strong or hyperactive as Ruby and thus not able to keep up. She doesn’t even ask them or get consent to do these things with her either, presumably just assuming they would also find these activities fun, which they won’t. (Consent is key folks. Never forget that.) I’m willing to bet if you were to find Ruby working out in the gym, should absolutely be the one person that would get a little too into her workout, sweating buckets, her clothes completely drenched, probably smelling like sh*t and the while she’s making all these loud grunts and screaming at the top of her lungs stuff like, “Yeah! F*ck yeah! Get some! Let’s go!”, completely making an ass out of herself through her hype for working out and making other people uncomfortable without realizing it. Hell, assuming she’s even remotely sexually active in her off time, her thoughts about the experience after the fact would probably be less so, “Wow, that was amazing.”, and more like, “Damn! That made a great cardio workout! Let’s do that again!” In fact, her idea of foreplay would probably along the lines of a wrestling match to determine who gets top, which you would no doubt lose every time, thus leading her to go down on you as hard as she can muster, while you’re just sitting there in pain thinking along the lines of, “I wish this crazy woman wouldn’t commit death by snu-snu every time we do this.”, most likely leaving you with busted legs and hips after she’s done going to town on you. Compare all this about Ruby’s personality to Cornelia’s personality in contrast. Cornelia clearly seems to have had a rougher upbringing compared to the rest of the sisters in wherever presumably the powers that be in Oasis seems to have dropped her in when she was younger. The scars on her body in tandem with her own muscular appearance and even the missing part of her tail paint a picture of someone who’s gone through a lot of strife and struggles on her travels. Whereas Ruby got in shape because she wanted to be buff and challenge herself, Cornelia is someone who got buff because she had no other choice but to do that in order to ensure her own survival. You’d think the of lifestyle she lived would leave her jaded and distant from people. Instead, her experiences out there in the world lead her to forming a personality that’s much more kind and compassionate at heart in contrast with her otherwise intimidating appearance, someone who’s always willing to help someone in need, someone who, especially compared to Ruby, is much more stoic and thus more in control of her own emotions and has a better handle in knowing when it’s time to hold herself back, especially around those who aren’t nearly as built as her. In fact, compared to Ruby, if you were to see Cornelia in the gym, she would most likely be much more quiet in terms of the sounds she makes, only really making a sound when she has to breathe in and out while lifting, for example. If she were also sexual active,(though I imagine that’s not often due to her lifestyle) she would more than likely be much more soft and tender with her partner, knowing that her strength would hurt her partner in question if she winds up going too far, perhaps even letting her partner take charge without question every time and if she has to be on top will make sure to very very careful so as to make sure her own weight doesn’t become too much for her partner to handle and thus risk hurting them. The aftercare cuddle in those arms of hers would probably be extremely pleasant and calming for both parties as well. In short, this page really does exemplify the differences between Cornelia and Ruby very well, in my opinion, made all the more intriguing with their somewhat similar muscular body types, Cornelia’s scars not withstanding. Really does go to show how differently two people can turn out depending on the paths they’ve taken in life, doesn’t it? Honestly, thinking about it, Ruby and Cornelia could very well be the closest thing the Zodiac Sisters have to the Yin and Yang and if that’s the case, I’m so all for it. In the meantime, let’s hope Shen can survive Ruby’s next idea of “fun” in the next page.
