"Saddness"

I tried to do what Jay asked and show what comes to my mind when I think of "saddness," but it was such a wide and deep feeling, so at the end I went with something that makes me sad almost on a daily basis. Often I'm overcome by a feeling of heaviness when it comes to my books, which cannot fully disappear even when I feel fine. I love reading and collecting books, and it’s pretty awful when you realize that while you are reading, you're subconsciously checking how many pages you’ve already read or how many are left, even though there’s nothing wrong with the book. I always want to jump to the next book even though I haven't finished the current one. And it feels awful when you have to force yourself to appreciate or just enjoy things you care about…

That's pretty heavy for sure. I've definitely felt this not with books but with the model kits I build. I try to take my time with it and enjoy but the party of me that is excited to see how it turns out seems to have more agency over my hands than anything else.

I sympathize with you. I read 1 to 3 books every week and nothing is worse than finding a great new story that grabs and/or moves you, only to realize as you near the end that you'll never get to read it the same way again. I have a library room filled with shelves of all the books I've ever read, thousands of them. All are old friends, and it saddens me that I can only reread a few of the best from time to time.

I feel you. I read a lot of books but the most recent time that experience seriously messed with my enjoyment was playing the Silent Hill 2 Remake a month ago. Real shame when that happens, but you can't blame yourself!

Ah yes. That feeling of dont want to finishing something... It happens to me with gunpla, models... My big grey pile of shame.

As someone with adhd I can relate to the feeling of wanting to move on before your done and how forcing yourself to enjoy the moment can make you resent it a little. Love this piece

The droopiness in her eyes... a familiar feeling I know too well.

Wow... this one's a mood. I feel like wanting to rush forward to the next thing is a universal human condition. And in the modern world where there's just so much to experience, it seems unavoidable. For what it's worth, of all the related problems, having too many books to read seems like the best one to have in this day and age. I should be reading more, but I'm constantly too exhausted by everything else to find interesting books to read.

I’m a book lover too. So, here’s my question: did you ever read a book cover to cover in one day?
