Hi everyone, here comes August's WIP. Btw, soon will be another one.
Genetics Overhaul Update
I'm still actively working on further improvement!
In progress right now
Cheats to randomize again face / body sliders, presets, skin tone, voice, hair and eye color
Dynamic fix of body sliders on age up to teen: sometimes the game doesn't update so called aged modifiers, while they must be the same as the basic ones. Because of that a Sim body can look strange. For such cases, if this Sim has a corresponding report, that was generated by my mod, it will be used to restore all data. Otherwise, the data will be rerandomized
I couldn't reproduce an issue, which causes toddlers receive black hair despite having another hair color on infant age stage. At this moment, I can suppose it may happen because of eyebrows color. So, infants will receive not only specific hairstyle, but eyebrows too. I hope it will be enough to fix this strange bug
Fixed a minor bug when the regenerate offspring cheat was unavailable
Fixed a rare bug that might cause birth without actual baby spawn. In rare cases, when parents go into rabbit hole to have baby at hospital, their sim data partly disappear temporarily, including their genealogy (lol), and then the mod can't receive the grandparents data. For such cases the EA genetics will be applied
Future plans
CC presets inheritance
I made some tests with a couple of presets, and my algorithm definitely worked! Though, they will be applied on teen age. There are two difficulties:
CC presets implementation vary: some of them are just a bunch of modifiers for a EA face sculpt, while others are just custom sculpts, and they also may be sculpts with modifiers (CC or EA) at the same time. For each type I have to make a specific algorithm
As with the CC sliders, I have to create a manual map of CC presets too. But not only there is plenty of them, there is no master list which presets people use often. I think about collecting data by a creator instead, so it will be easier to track progress. You can suggest popular presets creators in the comments!
There is another simpler way, though: just copy a preset from a parent / grandparent on aging up. But here the problem is, how to figure out, where must be a replacement of preset, and where must not. I mean, the mod uses the EA regions map to check, which part of face a preset belongs to. If a preset is unknown, there is no way to detect a region.
So, I need to think about both options.
Dominant and recessive genes
The game, of course, doesn't have such difficult algorithm. Hair and eye color are randomized equally between parents. My mod adds grandparents genetics into this algorithm, but the chances are equal too.
I wanted to make more sophisticated inheritance strategy right from the start. It's not that difficult to add it into existing algorithm. I'm struggled with customization lol. I mean, yeah, I can just create a weighted chance map based on our biology, but it's kinda boring? We have occults in the game, and you basically can prefer other dominant genes.
And I don't know how to design a clear interface for such customization. I mean, you definitely don't want to set up weights for 60+ eye color variants. I'm thinking about splitting it into several groups: weight for each human eye color subtype and for each occult eyes type. I call a subtype several similar variants, like dark brown, brown, warm brown and light brown colors. I suppose, it can work with hair color too: black, neutral black and black salt and pepper color variants can go into one group.
But I'd like to listen your opinions too!
Romance Remake
Yeah, yeah, still WIP. I hope to finish it in September.
Recently I was thinking about adding more options for messages and phone calls. I mean, it frustrates me that a partner of a Sim doesn't have many unique phone call options. We received a couple with the Lovestruck EP, but they are more about meeting each other. What about daily talks? Posting shared selfies, or basically starting and ending relationship. If you have more ideas (about this topic or others), you're very welcome to share them in the comments.
I hope you will be waiting for these updates :)
