Five Nights at Freddy's came out in 2014, more or less establishing macot horror as a video game genre so...literally a decade. (Although the concept of basing horror off of corporate mascots goes back to at least the 1980s, when the Reagan administration deregulated laws about advertising to children, redefining western children's media forever)
