Today is the 20th anniversary of Charlie the Unicorn. On November 25th, 2005 the first episode was uploaded to Newgrounds before it eventually made its way to YouTube.

The cartoon was originally a birthday gift for my mother, so in celebration of the anniversary I gave her a call and talked with her about the cartoon and its unexpected success.

Charlie the Unicorn: 20th Anniversary

It has been 20 years since the release of "Charlie the Unicorn," a cartoon I created as a birthday gift for my mom. To celebrate Charlie's 20th anniversary I recorded a conversation with my mom about the cartoon and its unexpected success. Support FilmCow on Patreon! I very fondly remember seeing Charlie for the first time from one of my best friends in my Animation Class - she had found you on Newgrounds and was showing everyone. It spread around the school like wildfire after that. :3 My sister and I still quote "we're on a bridge, Charlie!" every so often. Can't imagine my life without Charlie and fiends.

It's interesting how Jason starts out in his formal voice ("Hello, Mother!") but gradually switches to a more candid voice that I always suspected he had lurking under there. :)
