Kelsey LOVES giving me a challenge. She's evil like that. I was intimated by the idea of doing basketball sound effects let alone a sports-related audio, having never touched a ball in my life (giggity), but I was up for the idea.

Since restructuring my process and feeling pretty confident in how I do my editing, I was able to incorporate my acting training more into this one. It's been a recent goal of mine to make the performance as natural as possible, that way, it feels I am talking directly to you. Then all the rest, immersive-wise comes in the editing. But if the performance isn't there, if I don't see someone in front of me, editing can only do so much. Made sure to stand while recording so the efforting felt and sounded real--if I had a net in my booth, I can confidently say I was breaking some ankles in there.

Subject-wise I had a lot of fun with HftS, too. Similar to Stars and Sparks, the idea of a love with a definite distance or time barrier is something I can tap into pretty easily. The vulnerability of confession, the nerves "if they'll say yes" felt very alive for me. I hope it sounded that way for you :)
