Hump Day means the peak of the week. For some, the weekend seems so close at this point, for others, extremely distant. To the latter, today can seem like an incredible challenge to get through. That being said:

Share a story about a time you faced a difficult situation and how you overcame it.

As always, feel free to answer below, write in a journal and share, write privately, or put in the chat. And NEW THIS WEEK: if you'd like me to feature your answer on an instagram post, please put a 🪽 emoji at the end of your answer! Happy writing 🤍

I want to write something extraordinarily inspiring for this question, but I find my creativity reservoir has run completely dry. (That’s a story for another day.) Instead, I’ll just regale you with the tale of Meg in her most petty era. During my university years, I had a torrid affair with a musician. He was charming, funny, blah blah… we all know the type. After I discovered his infidelity (side bar: Is anyone surprised a regional, moderately famous musician in the early 2000s was sleeping his way through every college campus in the southeast?), I decided to get my stuff from his apartment while he was at one of his collegiate fuckfests. The only true love of his life was his vinyl collection. He had probably thousands of records. I wasn’t as heartless as he was, but I knew this was my chance. With the help of some very good girlfriends, we spent 4 hours at his place mixing up his records and their sleeves. Jeff Buckley’s Grace went into a sleeve for The Doors. Nothing was ruined, there was no smashing of records, but I left his apartment that day with the biggest fucking grin on my face. For months afterwards, when I would find myself being sad or weepy about our relationship, I would imagine him being at wit’s end trying to sort out his records, and I would laugh and laugh and laugh. And that’s how I faced a difficult situation and how I overcame it. 😏🪽

TW:Depression talk Well let’s start by saying that I shouldn’t even be alive today, because the doctors literally told my parents(as they were being wheeled out of the hospital), “take her home and enjoy her while you have her, she won’t live past 5.” But here I am now, at 30 years old, married with 2 cats and a community of friends that I never thought I would ever make. So I would say that qualifies as a tough situation. But it’s the “overcoming” part that I want to talk about…because through all the years of surgeries(30) and PT and everything else…I always felt like “what’s it all worth” and “why me”, well it took me going through a bad relationship, and a bunch of other things to realize that maybe there was something at the other end of the rainbow 🌈 and find myself in a better place. 🪽
