QALUPALIK || INTO THE DEEP (Patreon)

Introducing the Qalupalik. The Qalupalik is a dark merfolk that resides under the frozen waters of the Arctic. Qalupaliks are solitary creatures, and often live alone rather than with others of their kind. Qalupaliks are one of the most well known monsters of the ice, as they will capture and snatch young children. They carry an amauti on their back usually made of brown duck feathers which they use to stuff the children into . The Qalupalik then dives back into the frozen water and carries them into deep dark underwater caverns where the Qalupalik resides. The Qalupalik uses it's dark magic to suspend the children in the water in a floating deep sleep. They are alive, but will never awaken. The Qalupalik uses its captured children as an energy source, as it survives on the energy of the children. In its own disturbing way the children keep the Qalupalik company, as it is a solitary and a lonely monster who only ever ventures from its watery world to bring back more children.
