1. i am finishing a short story about a girl with a rose fetish

2. i'm nursing a 'hyperfixation' about...something....i don't want to explain it yet. all i do these days is dumb self-psychoanalysis and ask why why why like a lagging alphabet so i thought it would be fun to document the fixation as it unfolds for reasons of data collection and the fun of mind-spelunking, to see what comes up. my intentionality here feels funny and surreal, like i'm waking up in a dream. this particular fixation is notable because it's limerant and to do with someone who is not real which is something i haven't experienced since i was fourteen, maybe again when i was twenty-one, jury's out. i really thought i would grow out of this. i don't mean that judgementally. it is just what i thought. anyway i've been writing and thinking about that too. it gets pretty weird once it's all in pieces. i'll report back

3. i'm still gathering my thoughts about my videos and what's next...i have some ideas thanks to

4. tavi gevinson's zine fan fiction. i'm up late writing this update because reading it juiced me with so much adrenaline that i can't sleep. hoooly fuck. i need time but i'm very energized to talk and think about this more. some context is that i remember being very envious of tavi as a teenager, tavi who was so cool and assured in her power and her genius, getting the prodigy treatment. very rare are instances in my life where i wanted to be someone else; i do remember thinking that i wanted to be tavi. reading this...was...bizarre. i mean it's excellent, to be clear. i wish more people were talking about it

(i fear it will be..misinterpreted)

5. switching gears! fruit talk

6. i know i'm followed by sensitive types who don't fucking eat for one reason or another, so, a new discovery i've made, that feels lasting, that someone might find helpful: if you like me generally tolerate the taste and idea of fruit, but dislike inconsistency in flavor and texture (hard arsenical blueberries, soft banana necrosis), hey – freeze it! freeze it. freeze the fruit. :) it all gets sweeter. no more fear of poison duds. frozen banana has an especially nice texture. doesn't go bad. there's no pressure to want to eat it before it goes bad. it's easy to always have available, and a bag of strawberry slices is a better 'meal' option than nothing, or two packs of birthday cake protein bars. (i know this will sound ludicrous to those of you with healthy habits, but i kind of didn't understand you could freeze fruit, or, indeed, all kinds of foods, until, like, recently! i knew you 'could'. i knew i had a freezer. but what to do with it? it escaped me entirely. the freezer was the place i kept my ice cubes, and sometimes candles nubs stuck in candleholders, to shrink the wax.) i'll keep myself alive if it kills me

7. i deleted all my tweets and archived all my instagram posts except one extremely close-up photo of my face with a caption reading my exact age when i took it, to the second, which was just a guess. re: twitter, immediately i find i'm less motivated to open it without any interactions to check. that feels like something. i'm using instagram stories more...eh

8. writing these...posts...means i crystallize thoughts and feelings i wouldn't have otherwise and so i'm seeing how quickly i disagree with myself, and change my mind, even the way i write...it's not indecisiveness; i don't really return to where i've already been. there's 'momentum'. i don't know what that means. it's exhausting. maybe everyone is like this. i have a fear that i'm never going to want to stop changing my hair. it feels like that. i've never really related to the idea of an 'unstable sense of self'. but then, what's this? endless unfolding

9. i did an interview for trinity dublin's new online venture fledgling which should be live soon (i was featured in the last edition of their student mag icarus – it's a good issue – check it out).

10. i was thinking: probably 90% of what i write never gets read by anyone. i thought that might be interesting to someone. almost everything i make is unrefined ore, play, experimentation, so much slop

11. the flat is coming along really nicely...in this post from october i talked about being especially taken by jules bastien-lepage's joan of arc...well:

now she lives with me

little labyrinth spread there, too

miss gorl i thought you were about to tell us you were writing a story about a girl with a foot fetish 😭

savannah brown

yeah haha that would be so crazy and insane and weird haha

savannah brown

you are going to LOVE the hyperfixation post hahaha

wormtoucher

it is incredibly relatable to have wanted to be the founder and editor in chief of rookie magazine and also simultaneously typing into what feels like the void!!!!

melanie belle

no judgments here 😅 just cannot relate haha

re: 10 - it *was* interesting to me. the more i make, the worse i feel about the quality issues that seem to show themselves over time. i Know that this is just how creation works, but i don’t Believe it yet. so uh, thanks for the affirmation. <3

allegra

your home looks like it has remarkable cozy vibes. like a cup of tea would hit so nice there

sj

so many things that r making me go hmm and nod my head here… i love hearing abt peoples niche interests its so interesting like finding out what makes someone tick.. same for fetishes so am sooo intrigued by the prospect of a rose fetish.. you learn so much about something innocuous when you find out what people find hot abt it seriously. and also seeing a livejournal screenshot feels like having cold water dunked on my head + what a nice living room i love it

Ok frozen fruits and vegetables have absolutely changed my life like I have all these vitamins and none of the anxiety of spoilage or waste?? Like I still have a bag of frozen pineapples that is 6 months old because I rarely eat then because I keep FORGETTING THEY ARE THERE BUT IT'S STILL EDIBLE WOOO

Fab

flat is looking great! I'm moving to a new apt next month, very excited :-)

Idk if the perspective is warped somehow in that photo, but that looks like a really high sealing lmao.

"all i do these days is dumb self-psychoanalysis" yes yes we love an overactive default mode network

8 feels very relatable, i think it's quite distinct from an 'unstable sense of self' and closer to an awareness of yourself as an unfolding process - rather than some sort of immutable substance - passing through a continuous flow of sounds, smells, emotions, people, places, and a whole host of other things that are clearly not *you* but all end up becoming a part of a torrent from which sometimes something peeps up and says "I". Like when you have an argument with another person in your head. There's the 'other' as they exist *out there*, and there's the little homunculus of this person that lives inside your head, making the other and your relationship to them a dynamic part of yourself. I think the same goes for your relationship to your past selves and how you evaluate those. I feel a lot of what people think they believe or feel tends to exist in a sort of hazy, fuzzy, in-between state until you freeze it in place by shining a mental flashlight on it by writing it down, saying it out loud, meditating on it, etc. and it's only then that you really become aware of how much things are in flux beneath the surface all the time.

Tbh, I can relate to 10. in the sense that every comment that I've posted to express myself probably doesn't even get glazed by at least the same percentage of people. However, outside of the fact that the desire to do this comes internally, there is the feeling that these are conceptual for which the key points could be expanded upon and solidified within other mediums. A chance to recontextualize, to hone in. It does feel like trial and error when it comes down to the resonant factor too but that's down to the individuals mind and i don't think quantity of them matters on a grand scale (unless you abide by the 1000 true fans rule haha), as long as you can impact at least 1 person who can benefit from you and your ideas, and that person could just be yourself... This makes sense to me and feels real right now. and also! i had a similar revelation when it comes to freezing food My mum has a tendency of freezing bread sometimes and it does me think; who'd of thought you could preserve this food item aswell, mad :0 Glad to hear that the move is going well!

I'm personally very social constructionist about the self and think a lot of people and institutions who talk about personality are reifying something that is not NOT there, but at the very least an emergent property that can and is constantly shifting in response to the base/material elements of one's life that are perpetually constructing it (though of course superstructure feeds back to base, too). much about us can be said to be "stable" but not because it cannot change, or isn't regularly shifting within a window of recognition, but just because circumstances convened to enable the 'traits' to return repeatedly or for a long periods of time and that becomes a sticking point in our self-concept for a large proportion of our lives. but some of us have long lives. d'après moi, self is inherently unstable. some people feel more distressed/disturbed about that than others, less parts of themselves that they feel desperate to hold onto, lived a life where that sense of self changed more slowly and ceremoniously, etc.

How did you delete all your tweets (surely not by hand)? Thought that's impossible now since the maniac took over?

Leonie

I would love to know where you got that art print! This is also one of my favorite paintings.

Markus Benz

Oh yes please share the place you get your art prints from, I've been looking around but it's really hard to find good ones.

Uproote

I just realized numbering portions of writing is useful for people to respond to those particular portions (and inherently segment the overall body). Huh! Makes so much sense. I'm over here trying to make random ideas fucking flow together somehow. 😂

Ciarán L

snoopy is my boyfriend. you stay away from him

Ben H

The fruit one is actually incredible tech thank you for that!

oh i need to get on the freezing fruit thing now that it's gotten warmer, that is incredibly timely. slicing it pre-freeze is also a divine inspiration i would never have considered that actually fsr (i have a family member who is *very* into Keto and while they do it i think i ended up filing it away as #JustKetoThings instead of normal food things, time to undo that) (ramble) for 8, while i definitely have a different perception of self so experience may vary, i was actually talking to some friends recently about the process of writing and conveying thoughts and all that. myself and some as undiagnosed (but trying to be) asd and others as diagnosed asd so i'm not sure if this is an autism general thing or just a cosmic coincidence ( ; to break thought) while the descriptions varied, we sort of came to an agreement that for all of us, there's a lot happening in the brain that's out of sync with itself, and it's just a lot easier usually to approach things from the level of a heading in a document (or numbers in a list) rather than properly write words down in order on a page and get them right (unless you've done that already and that makes it easier in future instances), since you can go back easier before you send it off to either a personal library of notes or somewhere you intend for people to see. something that doesn't work out in person because the social contract asks you keep moving past any other branches you don't have time to speak into existence (?); where i'm not sure if this is the same thing you experience is since you mention it primarily for writing, but for me and my friends this applies to text and voice mostly the same way. these sentences are *way* too long, but i cannot seem to cut them down. oh dear.

Casper Rawshark

I wish Studio Arhoj bits weren't so expensive to ship to Australia. I see your little ghosts on the mantlepiece! :')

Valerie M

thank u for sharing! i really enjoy hearing about other people’s hyperfixations!! i feel like hearing about what someone else is interested in is interesting in itself…

Aidan

I played your Jeff bezos poem for some friends last night - you are a breath of fresh air and we all appreciate you 🧡

Teageen

If you get a decent blender, you can even further homogenize frozen fruit into a sorbet/ice cream like texture that is perfectly smooth in flavor and texture. It's 🤌🤌 I also enjoy a cooked fruit, like a strawberry or blueberry compote made from frozen fruit I do eat fresh fruit a lot and my trick to that is to chop it up into very small pieces and mix them around. Like strawberries into a 1/4 - 1/2 inch dice. It helps a lot

Teageen

Re: 8 I think that the process of crystalizing thoughts and moments of existence is really important for gaining a sense of perspective about one's existence. To avoid the crustification of getting older and believing that you've always been a certain way or always believed a certain thing, which is so common. I think a lot of being a decent person is the ability to recognize this transience. It keeps one connected to the difference in others' experiences in a way that keeps one compassionate and empathetic.

bailey bayer

life, and the way we navigate our perceived selfhood, is so strange in this hyper-connected world we interface with daily. one day at a time. we arrive at self-knowledge with time and experience!! the new flat is looking gorg. hope you're enjoying it 🫶🏼 stay sharp out there everyone ☀️

"all i do these days is dumb self-psychoanalysis and ask why why why like a lagging alphabet" made me laugh and relate because same. Currently reading, "Poetry Home Repair Manual" by Ted Kooser, who talks about most of what he writes being trash. I am trying to teach my mathematically-inept brain how to write in meter to transition from prose to poetry and do practice iambic sentences just in my phone notepad app, seeing writing as getting laps in before the marathon of writing an epic poem. I think most things we write are warm-ups and simply lessons to get us where we need to go. idk. There is something special about writing something no one else or only a select few ever get to read/hear.

Jacob Mischka

I hope you are doing well sav brown, I'm glad for these updates. Seeing more socials get deleted made me feel a bit worried, which is parasocial but hopefully not in too bad a way.

Mo

i would just like to say you got me into the Ghosts and now I have four of them living with me. the whimsy

savannah brown

ha! they're such a presence, everyone who visits comments on them

isaiah

only recently joined patreon, so re-reading old posts. just gotta say, this line is crazyyyyy: "all i do these days is dumb self-psychoanalysis and ask why why why like a lagging alphabet" some rap-levels of clever right here.
