Huh, I never thought I would want to write poetry until you explained your writing process. It's literally how I think in my head exactly. I hyper focus on a very specific topic. It can be entirely random, a memory or even something I spotted on my drive to work. But from there I'm able to break down how I feel about it, why, and delve into hypothesis of the situation.

I relate to not being able to articulating your thoughts spontaneously sometimes but also I wouldn't be too critical about it. It's likely more common than you might think and from my experience I reckon binge watching YouTube videos might have a big part to play in this. Absorbing creators composed, scripted thoughts can be useful and something I advocate for but the other side of that is I tend to subconsciously try to sound as knowledgeable as possible and source the most idealistic example but my mind goes fucking blank as a result of listening to the best words in the best ways. 😂 I guess the remedy is to not hesitate to pace and give yourself those few seconds to synergize your mouth and mind if needed and simply put, keep on practicing the act of speaking if you have to. Anyway yes another lovely piece of audio content! Make this a monthly thing please and ty. You are the future. :)

Totally understand your point on social media. I think sometimes in my little comfort bubble of poet and creative friends that feel in a sort of limbo state between being "on the way" and feeling like you're screaming sweet nothings into a void, we've all enabled our own authentic sacrifice to some extent. There was a time when it felt like you needed SM to progress, to be a writer , to be an artist and I think that was definitely true at one point (2 of my friends are full time writers now largely from their use of sm but again, it's a good question of what they might have sacrificed in the process). It just doesn't feel like that's the case anymore. I definitely watered down things at one point for such a desperate grasp for some success (perceived, I guess) but it 100% rips your soul from what kept it alive in the first place. I try to write what I like and, if I want to post it, I will but for me and for anyone who can appreciate not with a view to sky rocketing. It's nice to hear someone else remind me it objectively though. It's an eternal internal battle to remind yourself of what actually matters, too often sabotaged by the need to get out of the "non-creative" life quicker yk Anyway, loved this and thanks for the response ❤️

The part about there being nowhere you don’t belong when you’re gaining experience for what to write about really hit with me. Listening to this before going to see Killers of The Flower Moon like it’s my own movie pre show

Using poetry as a process of figuring yourself out and how you really feel about something is beautiful. It's almost like through poetry you get a second chance at creating what has happened to you. Recontextualizing, but on a more profound scale, almost like cleaning the window through which you see something, or at least altering the lens. Isn't that when art is the most beautiful, when it gives something new even to the artist? When the artist themself is part of the canvas, of the creation!

Fuuuuck, I feel so called out by the "a lot of beginners write poetry about the body" point - literally YESTERDAY I finished a piece for an art installation that I made by taking a half-sized anatomical model of a torso with removable organs and such, and then writing poetry all over both the skin and the insides. Then the next words I hear from Sav (who I also took a lot of inspiration from while writing) is her dissing poetry about the body. 😭😭

I do want to add that I got a lot of my inspiration for it from grafitti, so I guess I can comfort myself with the knowledge that "you were also at this stage at some point" lol

The speak was good : )

Lately I've had a strong desire to exist in public/social settings without a body, just partaking in the ambience without fear of being perceived or interacted with. So what you said about your ideal setting being on a couch at a party with your headphones on and no one talking to you... 😩 she just like me fr
