I kind of wish they had chosen a concept/outfit set for latata that wasn't just black with embellishments. It kind of oversimplifies the actual latata vibe, which to me has a little more attitude / girl-crush vibe that's not necessarily moody. The stark contrast with the black and gloomy set vs. itnw's fresh white outfits made the latter stand out wayyy more. It's funny that Jeemin originally says she's not good at or wants to avoid itnw-like concepts because this is one of the stages where she shines most brightly to me. And lastly, I'm keen to see Adam & RJ's top six for this ep because last time I remember Sarang not being a pick, but this time around Sarang to me stood out so much

the thing is jeemin was assigned the center, so while she definitely had parts to shine in, all the signature parts were given to others, and the whole gyuri and others should not be the ones complaining or speaking up or whatever is bc in a group u will have times where u will have to just be happy with what u get, and gyuri got a lot as someone who is not center. like dont get me wrong i so get the whole jeemin gets a lot of attention and i also was like??? did she need all that in money, but this ep man... like do u see nayeon being pushed to the back??

i soo agree, but i think its more of a they have seen how all the other girls will just take over (with no ill intent) so they wanted to see how a) koko will actually do as a leader of a group and b) can the other girls learn to put their trust in someone else and actually be a team that listens. bc honestly i think the producers are just like girl u WILL be under management so u kinda HAVE to learn to listen to others and (sadly) be docile and obedient

you really called it when you said that all 6 itnw girlies might proceed to the finals!! i personally agree ngl because while the latata performance was really close to perfect for me, it kinda lacked heart in my opinion? like latata was a nice performance in my opinion but the itnw girlies performed in order to SURVIVE. the way i thought you two were gonna imitate the haobin neck kiss when you two were pretending be the two candidates for top 3 lmao

When I watched this the second time around that 10sec skip was my friend. Watching yall watch it again the 10sec skip was my friend. That finale episode....that thing was my BFF lol. Its so LONG and drawn out so if you want to skip forward knock yourself out lol

1. The way survival shows get so feral about 'centers' is always really funny to me, because that dynamic rarely shows up that way in debuted groups. They'll have a visual/face of the group who gets some extra sparkle, but they don't usually have an overwhelming amount of parts in the actual song. And they certainly don't have any expectations of leadership or creativity. Usually they just get picked as the thumbnail more often if we're being real lmao 2. I think Team Koko set themselves up picking Latata. Perhaps unpopular opinion, but when you examine the elements it's actually a pretty boring song. It has a slower tempo, the vocal lines are kind of monotone in a lot of places, there aren't any ad-libs, the dance break that comes with the song doesn't change the mood or tempo because it uses the same instrumental as the rest of the song, the rap doesn't shift the dynamic when it's introduced, the song lacks emotional content and movement. The dance break they added to this version is by far the most interesting part of the song. Compare that to ITNW, even without any of the changes they made that song is much more dynamic. It starts gently, adds rock instrumental to shift the mood, has vocal parts with lots of levels, great ad-libs at the end, a dance break that is intended to completely shift the mood, and emotional content on top of all of that. This version also includes the shift from the vocal front section into the dance and the emotional tie-in of the journey, which the audience is definitely invested in if they're watching the show. If the audience was voting for one performance versus the other, I don't think there's any world where Latata could win. Honestly, almost any of the other options would have been better. Their performance of it was excellent, but so was ITNW's, and when both are excellent the better song will win. 3. Back in my Juwon one-pick bag to point out that although she gets some screentime in this episode, it isn't actually about her. Her screentime was about showing that Koko was a good friend/leader. I guarantee if she had practiced alone all hours of the night, they wouldn't have shown it. The editing out of Mai is so strange, too, because she’s gotten such a consistent narrative of hard work and emotional maturity in literally every episode. To have her pretty much disappear from this episode is such a baffling choice! It really seems like Mnet wanted her visual in the group and pushed her hard. 4. Sujung’s video letter to Yuju breaks my heart. She isn’t Mnet’s favorite so it wasn’t a storyline, but you often see Yuju and Sujung together during group scenes, chatting and giggling to each other. They were clearly quite close. You can just tell in the letter that Sujung knows she’s going to be eliminated, but that she thinks Yuju might still have a chance. She doesn’t talk about debuting together – only that she hopes Yuju can debut. Knowing now post-show that Sujung has decided not to pursue any more idol opportunities and focus on dancing, it really shatters me to see what this show did to her. She wanted to prove to herself that she could be more than the box she had been put in, and Mnet and the mentors just kept shoving her back in. Poor thing. 5. As someone who watched the show as it came out but didn’t keep up with the voting at all, I had a similar reaction to the Jungeun reversal lmao. Apparently knetz tanked her in the middle of Part 2 due to her “lacking visual” and everyone else was like “that’s stupid, she’s too good not to make it” and kicked her votes into high gear. All I can say is – deserved :3
