Hug everybody, even people you don't know, it's a 100% brazilian thing to do. He is a little messy but I love him ❤️

BaoziBang (Tali)

You know what a lot of people took away from these two episodes? A lot of the comments I saw were basically: Shun doesn't deserve love if he doesn't go to therapy, I bet he will be abusive to Dai.... That turned into: people with issues don't deserve partners because they are horrible... Not only from comments but also from a few reactors and that basically started an all out war because people, me included, got VERY protective over Shin because, in my case, I have BPD. I hear that I don't deserve love A LOT anyway...

i feel like they didn't date things so that they could kind of edit around things and piece together their own story if that makes sense? i still don't think it was a great idea to do, but i do think they did it with the intention of getting you to follow a more 'cohesive'? journey but all that did was cause more confusion for ppl and eventually led to the train of shun hate

Darsh

Shun is breathtakingly beautiful

Tesa

I'm at the part where the group has the discussion around the bbq, and I just want to say that they all live in Japan :) Taeheon, although Korean, lives and works in Tokyo. Alan, I believe, grew up in Japan actually

C

Kazuto already needs a break! 😂 I remember this episode made me laugh so much! Shun being a complete shit stirrer 😂

Jody

I love that Shun was initially like “I hate the steam room I’ll only shower” but THEN as soon as he thinks he might get the tea about how Dai knows Alan he’s got a towel wrapped around his damn head 🤣

unattae

I must say I relate so much to Shun emotionally, so all the attacks and death threats people sent him affected me so much that I couldn't finish the show. I get my weekly dose of them through their vlogs though

After reveling that Shun grew up in an orphanage, his character became even more understandable. It's naturally that with this kind of background, he have a lot of traumas, as a result of which he have a reserved and closed nature with his own little quirks and whims. I don't think Shun is toxic, but, of course, to be with him, you need a lot of patience and understanding. But I love how Dai fell intrigued and enjoys (most of the time) that Shun is hard to read! And poor Kazuto. Three love confessions in one night is really too much! But I get these men 😅

I will say this, since we are among friends and fam here. No tea, no shade, no judgement. It boggles my mind watching this show, why people were so adamant on dropping His Man and claiming this to be the superior show. I'm not saying it's bad or that it doesn't have it's importance in terms of Asian queer media. But I'm not really a fan of the structure of the show not allowing us to go on the ride with the contestants as they figure things out, but instead the show is telling us who we should be rooting for and framing moments as more or less importante than they actually are. This is more of a Netflix issue really. But the hate I saw hurled at His Man when this show came out now feels even MORE inane, cause half the time I am kinda bored, cause I can see what's coming a mile away and they keep needle dropping music to make us feel something. Where as His Man just showed us daily life as it happened and we were left to sit with events and form our own interpretations of their actions and feelings. I also feel like I understand Shun a lot more now, but having said that, I don't really feel bad for him and Dae when they keep going in circles. Watching them really does remind me of my own early 20s and so Shun deliteratly pushing Dae away even tho he likes him IS a sign of immaturity to me. I don't hold it against him, it's clearly a trauma response. But I also don't really gain simpathy cause, well, that's just him being 20. Makes me wanna go: Get over it, I guess haha. But yeah, it just makes me slightly frustraded cause the show barely focuses on the other contestants, it feels. And I guess as a gay 32 yo, I'm not really as invested in the two convetionally attractive 20 somethings guys being dramatic. xD I'd rather know if the 30yo Gogo boy and Barista have a shot!

RJ, look up the Midwestern Builders TV Jingle. Anyone who lived in the Kansas City area in the 80s-90s will still know that phone # by heart, guaranteed.

Brenda Lynne Lee

Here's my 2 cents abt episode 3 talk: Dai and Taeheon were both educated abroad (Dai - NZ; Tae - UK) so they both have seen worlds outside JPN and among the cast members, these 2 are the "academics" so it is not shocking that they are the ones who would start a debate about politics and stuff lol however, even though Tae spent most of his adult life in the UK and JPN, he is still a Korean. And if there is someone who knows Japanese mass media more it is Dai, who not only is Japanese, but also majors in Media and Marketing. Also, Dai's input about pandemic may have been influenced by the chaos that happened in Japan vs NZ whose gov't and people were greatly praised for "flattening the curve."

I kinda disagree, the reason why people found this show better and more Entertaining, is cause the episodes arent 1.30 h long, without much Happening. (Like in his man) I was never, bored or knew what was coming on the show (and people are obsessed with daishun) im mainly talk about Season 3, Season 2 was loved.i liked Both his man, and the boyfriend. Hating on one is stupid imo

stephanie44

I don’t think its really the editing. Shun was just confusing on the show. The hate was stupid tho

stephanie44

Everyone wanting kazuto reminds me of everyone wanting changmin season 1 of his man

stephanie44

How do you know he got that? Cause of toxic people i don’t really look for comments on the show. Watch 1 reaction of someone i like and ignore the hate. Shun hopefully did the same

Chloe

Doors and Drawers Jingle- definitely worth Googling!! 😂

Lynn Pratt

Did I just totally miss it or did they never say how Alan knows Usak? Or did he just recognize him bc he's "the most famous gogo dancer in Japan"? I got the vibe that they knew each other when they hugged but Alan's very affectionate w/ everyone so maybe it was just Usak responding to Alan's friendliness.

João (ffmnc17)

The one thing I would disagree is I always felt like there always WAS something happening on His Man, so its lenght felt justified. That one happens over a shorter period of time, but a lot happens and they spend long chunks on events that happen. So we get o fully understand those situations. On the Boyfriend they cover several days at once and yet nothing really happens. They aren't showing many interactions. So it feels like they aren't talking or don't know each other. Which we know is not the case, otherwise Ryota wouldn't have had the confidence to express his feelings to Kazuto or talk openly with Shun. I should have clarified that when I said boring, I meant the editing. Sorry. It was the main critique I wanted to get across. I'm not saying in any way one is objectively superior to the other. That was the thing I couldn't understand from people's comments back when they were airing. I'm just making the comparison to His Man because I feel like the editing on this show is actually much 'weaker' BECAUSE it's predictable and 'lazy', in the sense that it's not creative with it's storytelling.

Brenda Lynne Lee

My experience is totally diff 😅 I was gagged and holding onto my seat while watching this show because of the twists and turns of the events. And even if they don't use soundtrack, I think I would still cry the first time I hear Shun's story about not experiencing "family love." The way he said was just so raw and so sad. Even as I watched Adam and RJ's reaction, I was crying with Adam the whole time that scene was playing 😅

fre 🫧

he was confusing but the editing 100% tried to make it worse to amp up the story

1.) Shun - He's a colossal gossip/shit-stirrer, and I kind of love it XD haha Hearing Shun's backstory had a lot of people going "ooohhhhhhhh, I get it now", and it's understandable he'd struggle in some ways. Even after the show ... I didn't see Shun as toxic at all (as someone who has been in toxic relationships ... people are a little too quick to throw around that word these days). He was just 23, hurt and undoubtedly had trauma. He was a little frustrating at times, but he definitely didn't deserve the hate he got. He seems so much happier after the show (I think the show in itself was a LOT for someone with his kind of personality, but again it's hard to gauge because of how little we saw in the Green Room - in their vlogs he's similar but also a lot more playful). 2. KAZUTOOOOOOO - he needed a nap, preferably for 3-5 business days, just to deal with all the confessions XD he's just so loveable and likeable! he kind of has big fluffy Akita or Samoyed vibes. 3. Usak - I really wish he saw how much everyone else liked him as a person, he's so sweet, but unfortunately I think his calmer, quieter presence got a little lost amongst the more out-going personalities. 4. Alan - is an absolute vibe, I'd be friends with him in a heartbeat. 5. Gensei ... I just want to give him a hug. He's so sweet. I just wish, like Adam said, we had SOME idea of the timescale XD (I even looked it up just for context, there is sweet NADA)

Ophelia

They never said! Or they never showed it - they only showed how Dai knew him before cutting to Shun's reaction

kayleigh

no cause kazuto is such a catch id be in love with him too

Htet Kross

Boys me too me too I’m down so bad for Kazuto

JadJad

OH MY GOD I WENT TO THAT AQUARIUM WHEN I WAS IN JAPAN

nobody

Have you seen My Beautiful Man yet? if not, we will you react to it ?

heavens

This show was a MASTERPIECE and filled the empty space that was left from being a huge Terrace House fan - really slice of life-y, cute romance and hilariously unserious drama throughout. My favorites were Shun, Gensei, and Ryota.

Po

Shun is so good looking 🩷

In your first reaction to the boyfriend, you guys were trying to figure out who Kazuto reminded you of and as I watched him it clicked in my brain who he reminded me of. He looks like Neo (GMMTV not the matrix) especially at certain angles. Also kazuto gets off his job and suddenly everyone is confessing to him

Rosalie

I have too many thoughts about this ep so I’ll just introduce my hyper local jingle. I live in Nagasaki city (famously where the Cherry Magic Movie job transfer takes place. I also happen to own the much coveted Cherry Magic coffee table), and an hour away from where I live there’s this little road stop on a cliff. It has a store selling potatoes which have been steamed whole/simmered in a sweet/savoury broth and then deep fried in a slightly sweet batter a bit like a thin hotcake mix. It’s called Jagachan (from the word for potato “jagaimo” +suffix showing endearment). It’s a whole song but the important part is when the singer goes JAGA JAGA BOKURA NO JAGACHAAAAAAAAN. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqO4U7We0I4 I keep trying to tell my friends that Japan really isn’t as weird as Western media likes to portray it sometimes, but then local tourism centres go and make stuff like this…

Tony

I love Adam's eye roll at the 1000 yen. Cuz I was like gurl this issue feels produced.

tiff

lowkey agree, i find myself watching in 1.5x speed bc while there is a lot happening, i feel like i barely know these guys whereas in hisman, i got a good feel of everyone in the first ep. & yes, the netflix dating show issue of only focusing on the "main characters" really shows here. i also hate that anyone is even pitting those shows against each other bc they both deserve to stand on their own!!

João (ffmnc17)

Yeah, it really is a Netlix thing. 😮‍💨 I don't think think one show is objectively better than the other. I was just very frustrated how BL fans came in and 'decided' His Man was 'boring' in comparison to this. I will say it has gotten more entertaining as the episodes go on. But I still have a lot of issues with it as well.

Aurora Borealis

shun made me squeeeeeal he is soo me and all my girls when we were 21... just a lil dramatic, just a little demure tortured princess i love him
