I’m surprised you guys haven’t heard of Ikuo, bc you guys mention the hate Shun received but Ikuo got a lot of hate too… Actually people adore Shun now (🥹 as they should!!) but I still see a lot of hate and dislike towards Ikuo online. Which I feel is unfortunate bc he’s young and was just trying his best. Not to mention everyone else on the cast is pretty well-liked but only bc they weren’t in the way of the Dai-Shun ship. Not Ikuo was collateral damage so the ship could sail 😭😭

When I watched this as it aired I BAWLED at Usak's exit from the show because this moment was just so unexpectedly earnest, wholesome, and bittersweet.

about the panel: the older guy was also on the panel for Terrace House for all 5 seasons which was hugely popular in Japan. On that he was kinda gross in his comments about women. That show famously was cancelled in its 5th season when a cast member killed themselves bec of all the bullying they received in part bec of the panel's comments (not necessarily his though). So I was surprised to see him on this panel and also to see him being a queer ally. I'm assuming the panel is there to mimic the Terrace House formula and hopefully bring in it's fans. This is my first watch of The Boyfriend so I'm curious to see if the panel addresses the hate Shun got especially knowing TH's tragic history

the first time I watched, I cried at Usak's exit and BALLED when Dai said they bought the fucking chicken. I can't believe the chicken made me cry. (it really just showed how much they care about each other 🥲

I will never get over Usak and Kazuto's misconnection. I really think if Usak stayed, they would've left the house together. Anytime I see them after the show doing interviews, they still have such a nice chemistry. The lost potential gets me

It good point that if a person who you interested is a too much, it turn you off. I didn't catch that in Shun/Dai situation the first time I watched show the first time. I really thought it’s rather about Dai, not Shun. And about Ep. 5: I cried my eyes out when Usak left. And his drawing is gorgeous! He is such a gifted person!

Ahhh... I like the commentary but I might be in the minority. Because i watch things like this alone, hearing similar thoughts i have said outloud makes it more enjoyable for me, personally. Or makes me think about other things. If I was watching with other people, I might not have liked it as much
