I clicked it immediately 🤣 clearly I’ve been waiting 🤣

wen

this episode was back to back whiplash 😭 also to give more context on go young's relationship with his mom, in the novel he explicitly tells her he can't ever forgive her because of what she did to him. + while he's in the hospital after his attempt and she tells him not to try so hard, there's one paragraph that really sums up how delicate and strained their relationship is: "... aren’t you supposed to ask me why I did it, isn’t there something you always wondered about me? I wanted to shout down the roof at her, but there was a respirator tube going down my throat, preventing me from speaking".

Can't wait for the recap

Ellen 101

Not that damn mirror coming full circle 🤣

Karlchen

1년후 is One year later :)

SUSU

As a Pisces (and a human being I bet), I can't even describe how emotional I got.

Quimey

And from this episode to the last, I couldn't stop crying.

Muyaho

sadness aside... Why was Adam making out with that bottle lol

Daniel

the 3-4 storyline contains all my gay traumas where all of them feel necessary to go young's character... like this is peak queer storytelling and they're doing it right here. the sound/lighting design is perfect

Gueret Gee

this was the hardest episode for me to watch and rewatching with you guys its still hard to watch can't wait for the recap

A lot of the commentary I saw on Twitter when this first aired was ppl saying that Yeongsu plain and simply had internalized homophobia (/ was using Go Young for research). I dont think it was quite that fr. Because of his circle and the people he surrounds himself with, i just think he is simply scared. He is scared to break off from that circle and, as a gay man himself, developed internalized homophobic tendencies to play cover up. Writing that paper is apart of his cover-up. I dont think he is really ashamed or hates that he is gay per say, but since he is scared to step away from those people, he may wish that this whole thing/ his life would be simpler if he was just straight. Now, i didnt read the book or see anything from the storywriter about this so this is purely my interpretation! Loved this episode!

Everyone said we'd cry, but I couldn't. I was so anxious I was sick and bit off all my nails. Luckily that damn The Boyfriend wall mirror appeared and I could finally breathe.

It's such a beautiful phrase, "I picked it up while studying the universe." I wonder if by the "universe", does he mean love? Or life? Both? We don't know anything. We learn how to do everything. Maybe there's a point to this life or not. We're all just trying to figure "it" out and everything that happens to us good or bad stays with us. I dated this girl in college and because of her, I started drinking redbulls. She would buy me one almost everyday during work. We broke up and it's silly, but the coconut flavor always makes me think of her.

Auburn

add that mirror to the gay cinematic universe along with the grid sheets and the canon printer

Tesa

All I have to say is that was an intense episode... I didn't think I'd cry again, but here we are..

This episode haunted me the most when I first watched and for a long time I couldn't separate the actor who played Yeongsu from his character and was still feeling disturbed by him even in all the cute promos they were doing. On 2nd watch I found I could have a tiny bit of empathy. The Che Guevara poster on his wall helped me imagine a backstory for him that didn't make him a total jerk (while also underlining how some progressive movements that emphasize human rights are also extremely homophobic) So does that actor remind anyone else of Jongho? I've been going insane from the way Jongho stares into the camera in the live performances of IOMT

That scene when he’s in the hospital and his friends are so happy to see him has had me sobbing both times I’ve seen it. It provides such a good contrast to the relationships in this episode with Yeongsu and his mother. It’s such a good visual of a found family.

Sobbed through my entire first watch and sobbed again watching with you guys. Excellent show, I have a migrane and my eyes hurt 👍

Yu

I wouldn't have rewatched this so soon if not for you guys, in fact I'm still recovering. This is literally the best bl show that I have watched so far, it's just so human and real. The people we meet and part throughout our lives all contribute something, whether it's good or bad, it's still beautiful, sometimes devastatingly so. I can't wait to see the reactions for ep 5-6 (fav) and hear you guys' thoughts, or worse ep 7-8

senni k

Please react to high school frenemy (gmmtv) technically it’s not a bl but so good and the “bromance” is so strong that it might as well be a bl😂 the acting and plot are great❤️

So I interpreted what the mom said in the hospital in a very different way. I thought she was telling him not to try so hard to die because we all die eventually. So I thought she was telling him to live. He will eventually die because we all do, but he shouldn’t try harder to get there.

Serena Grant

That’s how I took it too! Very interesting that it can be read each way, I wonder if the translation made it unclear or it was that up for interpretation originally as well.

Aerial

And this confirms I need the book

wen

100%! in a lot of ways the drama adaption stayed true to the novel, but there are a few differences and i'd say the novel's exploration of their relationship was a little deeper

kayleigh

oh god i’m so excited for the next episode 😭😭😭😭

Jason Vanhee

Oh, wow. I watched the first episode recap and then got the book from my work and read it (it's amazing, I loved it) and then after a while remembered I hadn't watched the rest of the recaps, and this episode, it's so good, so much like the book while not being the book, and I'm overwhelmed

hana D

I don’t know if anyone noticed the lyrics, through the whole episode said that “I’m afraid to say i love you”, basically the theme of this two episodes…
