They did actually get real queer activists from the community for the protest scenes, and the flag is the real one used for Bangkok pride every year! Also, iirc, at the time the show aired, the qr codes they showed on screen were scannable and would take u to pages about how to help the cause and sign actual petitions for marriage equality.

Thanks for another ep reaction update! Adam’s right. They are real activists who gathered and were invited by the director to shoot the rally and pride flag scene. This actually happened and was included during their filming because around that time in 2021, the news on pushing the bill for marriage equality failed to reach the parliament/house for its final reading before it gets passed into law, and due to that moment, this scene was decided to be made in order to reach more people from their country to continue fighting for it. This became a memorable moment and for me, an emotional iconic scene for all bl/queer watchers… 🥹 Finally, 4 years later… Thailand has finally succeeded and the world has witnessed this beautiful triumph. Love is love! 🏳️‍🌈 P.S. Since ep 1 to 7, it’s hard to enumerate but a lot of the actors in the series are actually activists and known advocates for various sociopolitical concerns. Even the artists who made the works of Namo and Unar, as well as yok’s Art teacher are real people who creates art with a cause. I learned this from thai viewers and their fans that why I love Not Me for breaking the norms which eventually other shows/series started to follow. 😊

correct me if I’m wrong but iirc Yok’s mother was fired from her previous job in an earlier episode because the woman who hired her couldn’t speak to her as a companion or something like that. And it sounded more like she was still job hunting versus abruptly getting fired. So the thing with Yok not knowing seems more like a gap in communication than a lack thereof. Though if you guys already had that info in mind then I guess it’s still questionable based on how much time has passed

Others have said it was real activist. This was actually a very heated time in Thai politics. There were a lot of fights going on but Marriage Equality was leading it all so it wasn't shocking that it was all rolled into one. Again this was super risky to do. GMM put itself on the line with this series. People were on watch list and getting arrrested for their activism. This show got big numbers with very little advertisement. It was on a shoe string budget but it meant a lot to OffGun to get it made and it gave voice to a lot of people in a space that was normally not used for political things.

People already hate Tawi because he stole their land and is using it for shady dealings but the power dynamic has made it so people think there is nothing they can do about it. What Yok is saying is that if they can show people that ppl arent sitting still maybe it will light the fire to get more people to fight back. And because Tawi had the story of his house burning buried no one knew about it but a small amount of peoplem so they're hoping this will add to the chain of events and get more people to join them.

If I remember correctly, this show happened during the anti-monarchy in Thailand conversation and the gay rights protests. So it felt very pointed. I also remember the actors been vocal and active in social media about gay rights in Thailand. They were also vocal about the student arrests made by the government. I remember that one young lady that was the main activist. Tul was always posting about her when she got arrested

Not sure if you noticed the product placement for the car in the DanYok scene. I think it was pretty well incorporated into the scene but I find it funny how the car is bright blue when the rest of the show has a more muted/dark color scheme.

about White not having ID and Gram being shocked .... From White's POV, the only real ID he has is his own, and he can't show that. And Gram's POV is that they need ID at a protest/rally in case something happens or they are arrested and need to show ID.

the OST for this whole show is amazing. They had no budget so they asked a bunch of unknowns for licensing rights in exchange for pennies and exposure and it turned into one of the most epic soundtracks ever and a huge boost to the artists.
