Oh, don't worry. Once the BL comes out I will be READY for my in DEPT critique. It's hilarious to see Adam go "oh, so this is what it takes". Yeah girl. It's STRESS. Non stop. For days, weeks, MONTHS. I had to shoot my final short film project during Covid. It was not fun. I nearly went INSANE. Don't think I ever really recovered. O_o But I will say that the getting sick from it is VERY real. Any long shoot I did I would always either catch a cold or some form of fever/virus. And sometimes it was just cause I was so exhausted my body was like "nope, you going to bed now". xD

Your reactions to My Personal Weatherman have been the highlight of my week, and I often get curious about what you guys would think when I'm watching/re-watching a BL series. About Yoh as a character, I honestly think that there are a few factors that help the viewer understand why Yoh acts the way he does about Mizuki (in relation to his intelligence). On one hand, the series really explores the notion of self-worth through Yoh. Episode 5 in particular reflects Yoh's emotional breakdown when his self-worth is at its worst (I would even argue that he might have depression). Essentially, Yoh throughout the series tries to work towards his 'ideal self', this is externalised with him trying to get his manga to sell well. Because he basically lives off of Mizuki's income, but they haven't officialised a relationship, I think it leads Yoh to believe that he has to add something to the situation that would give value to his presence. So when he keeps on struggling with his manga, and it keeps on not selling well, he is shown to be struggling already, but when his editor fires him, he completely shuts down. In fact, it's interesting to note that the last trigger isn't only that he got fired either, but that he couldn't even do the washing at home properly, nor did he make dinner. Essentially, he's unable to do anything that society deems 'productive', and therefore sinks into an abyss. To me it's significant to showing just how strongly Yoh has come to associate his own value with having a 'use' (and therefore value in society's lens), but also in order to contribute as an equal, rather than as a servant. On the other hand, if you notice closely in detail (I've rewatched this series a lot, and truly more detail comes to light every time), then it actually seems that Yoh very well *knows* and is aware that Mizuki already has feelings for him and even that Mizuki doesn't need Yoh to contribute financially or have a specific function (as Mizuki doesn't need him to be able to do the chores either to be important to him). One example of this is when Yoh gets drunk and vents to Mizuki about his feelings of jealousy and tells Mizuki "because you like me", revealing his awareness that was unbeknownst to even the viewer. What this means to me is that the series is showing that it isn't so much about a character's lack of intelligence or needing to know a specific piece of information, but that Yoh as a person can't actualise his belief in the knowledge itself, because of his lack of self-worth. I love the series for how it contemplates on how complex communication can be for a topic that is seemingly simple. Common sense doesn't matter so much, as trying to understand why the characters feel the way they do. I find that to be another aspect of My Personal Weatherman, that it defies ideas around common sense. To an observer, they may think it is more than obvious that Yoh and Mizuki are already dating, but in a sense the characters don't experience it as such nor even view it quite that way. There is a similar reflection in When It Rains It Pours, which is airing right now. Our relationships with people can't exactly always be categorised and are often simplified for the sake of it, but sometimes erases the nuances of the bond between people. This series also shows the human dilemma of constant miscommunication. Even if we understand the general meaning to be the same (or not even), we are always understanding from our own lens, from our own world, and that will lead to a different experience and thought-process. Phew that was long but happy if anyone took the time to read ^^ ah also, I think that you would both really enjoy Word Of Honor (a chinese censored bl drama), because the romantic elements are actually quite overt despite the censorship, and there is a lot to read in-between-the-lines. I can already imagine the inside jokes, and i think you would become really fond of the protagonists' dynamic (hoping my wishful thinking could come true haha).

From my understanding, three years ago Segasaki proposed the idea to Yoh that they live together after they graduate. Segasaki graduated before Yoh, then Yoh finished college and only officially accepted the proposal and moved in with Segasaki four months ago. So they haven’t been together for that long. I am curious though if they stayed in touch for those three years while finishing school or if they reconnected after Yoh graduated. I haven’t read the manga, so I’m not sure if that gives more explanation.

How about the fact that neither of them would actually ever be cast in these roles! That was your first clue...its not my fault you cant read context clues. Not everything is meant to be taken so literally! But you just had to use their real life birthdays as if someone was suggesting they actually enact these roles in their real life! So yeah...u made it weird when you meshed reality with fiction when it wasnt necessary! No one is asking these idols to play these roles... i was simply basing my comment on the characters personalities and facial features.. THAT IS ALL! Same way Adam and Rj were....but i guess seeing Sunoo who was born in 2003 play yoh wouldnt bother you? Just as long as the other actor is also as young as him? Mmmmkay!

Because i thought i was having dialogue with semi intelligent people who could recognize my intentions. But i forget sometimes that not everyone has the ability to separate reality and fantasy. And yes....in MY IMAGINATION i was able to actually use it and picture them as the appropriate age....Thats the beauty of the imagination!! And that's why i said you made it weird because you are basing it on reality when the show and everything about it is in fact not reality!!! ITS NOT REAL!!! These men arent actually dating...they arent actually having sex...and would you believe he isnt even a weatherman...crazy how they are just VISUAL representations of the characters!!! Theyre simply 3d models of what the characters are meant to LOOK like.

maybe i already commented about it on youtube channel, but i sort of always seen their dynamic through the lens of two neirodivergent people finding each other, espessially in this episode. I dont assume thats what creators ment, and i have that lens because I'm most likely neirodivergent - and relate to Yoh a lot. In this scenario, the thing about Mitzuki acting very differently around other people, would be what is called masking - widely speaking, then neirodivegent people control their behaviour, often to exshausiting degree (movements, mannerisms, facial expresions, eye contact, speach ect) for the benefit of other people and to fit into general society. It comes at a price, not just because its tiring and unfair, but also, it creates a distance between you and people, with whom you always pretend. Why Yoh is initially annoying to Mitzuki? Because he doesn't mask, he "allows himself" what Mitzuki doesn't - to act more or less naturally - though at a cost, socially. Why Yoh becomes special to Mitzuki? Because Yoh can see though his pretending, he's the closest person that comes to know and accept Mitzuki. I don't assume it's because Yoh is a better person or even because he's an artist, i think he just recognises it in Mitzuki because he felt how it is. Still the theme of recognising a kindred spirit also works for relationship between two dare i say kinky people (though i don't feel like their initial meeting is about this dynamic). And interestingly enough, there is a well documented link not just between being neirodivergent and being queer, but also between being neirodibergent and being into kink/bdsm. something about sensory input and effective sexual communication. but thats a side note.
