Atiny always said that Kingdom was ATEEZ’s playground. Their main purpose wasn’t to win, it was to experiment and put on insane performances for Atiny (especially since they put their lore into every performance which confused everyone that wasn’t a fan of them). They were there to make friends, get exposure and have fun. You can especially see it in the final performance.

im pretty sure the lore with ateez's performance is that ateez and halateez team up to defeat the white android guardians. at the end halateez sacrifices themselves for ateez and that's why they are dead in the lore. i sound literally crazy but i swear its written in the lore novels lmaoo

okay okay omg!! no matter what the results say, this is one of my favorite ateez performances. i think the thing with ateez's performance here is that, despite everything that they were allowed to do with the no limit theme, they still chose to do what atiny has been asking for during this time. also, by choosing to perform their own song remixed with ode to joy ft. la poem, they were able to release this as a track on their fever epilogue album, alongside the real, giving atinys one of their best remixes ever. i swear i feel like ascending when i listen to it, it never fails to give me shivers. so yeah, i think there is no regrets on ateez's part in choosing to perform this in the no limit round :)

This is THE ateez performance for me. I watched kingdom shortly after seeing ateez at kcon in 2022 where I became totally enamored with them and this performance (and their time on kingdom) is what made me an Ateez ult. I cry every single time I watch this performance because you can just feel everything they’ve felt throughout this process. As someone else said, it became so evident through this performance that kingdom really was just their playground - they knew they’d never win and it was never about the crown for them. It was about showing who they are as performers and taking this stage to expand their lore and tease things yet to come. The big “fuck you” layered into this performance was so cathartic and as someone who loves emotional, theatrical performance I knew that this was the group for me.

i know with these rankings someone is always going to be last (or tied for last), but the fact that no other group voted for atz was a different type of hurt. they said they had no regrets and rightfully so, i’m beyond proud of them and this performance always makes me cry. i love their ability to always include their storyline and their identity as a group. cherry on top was definitely throwing away the crown. loved all of these performances and can’t wait for next week!!

to answer the question about how they compose it, you do either record yourself playing the instruments or you can just do it via the program so like take the garage band example RJ gave but instead of using whats already made (stock) you just play the instruments via your keyboard, like if you need a hi hat and then a snare and lets say "G" is the hi hat and "U" is the snare, you just simply press "G" "U" and it makes the sounds a drum kit would make, downside is that no program that is currently available sounds as good as a real instrument does but its great for smaller artists who dont have access to every instrument and this way you dont need to learn how to actually play them all (this is coming from someone who took years of music classes but slept and skipped through all of it)

Chani being a Taemin fanboy is so funny considering how so out of his comfort zone doing sexy himself is lol. It's actually such a funny story on how he even got Taemins number. Taemin had a special episode of Idol Room where three idols got to appear, meet him, and compete on who the biggest Taemin fan was. (The other idols that appeared were WEI's Donghan who was fresh off JBJ and a soloist at the time, baby Jisung and Jeno of NCT, and a very late Chani who had a mv shoot but booked a plane after the shoot just to make it injured and all!!!). He ended up winning the episode and not only got Taemins shirt he wore in one of Shinees MVs, but Taemin gave him his number too! Talk about a fanboy moment!! (Although many hate the hosts, I highly recommend watching this episode in your own time if you are interested). When we say Tamein is the idol of idols, this is what we mean!

Answer is still to this day my favorite ATEEZ song. There is just something about that grand, orchestral sound that will always take my breath away and make me so emotional. Ateez recently brought Kingdom up again during one of their lives actually! They said Mingi used to contact them after each episode. They talked about what it would've been like if Mingi was there. Hongjoong actually brought this topic up, which surprised me bc I remember watching an older live (like 2022 old) where Hongjoong said he basically just doesn't watch Kingdom bc they were having such a hard time and he doesn't like to be reminded of it. ateez were completely robbed with this performance and honestly the whole show in general, the main reason being that they wanted to stick with their actual storyline for each performance, which a lot of the general public didn’t understand. it just shows that they wanted to do this for us and not just for the title of winners, though i think they were fully deserving. what matters most to me is that they did what THEY wanted and have no regrets in doing so!

But I spent the whole performance slightly distracted, waiting for something to happen, instead of focusing on how INCREDIBLE their dancing and synchronization is. Eun kwang said SF9’s move is ‘a performance needs courage’. Actually it makes sense. I think Korea was not a place that LGBTQ was widely accepted . It wasn’t until 2022 that they finally had their first queer relationship reality show. And Kingdom is on 2021, while BL dramas and queer shows are rare. If someone does a performance which stan for lgbtq, they would take the risk of being hated by some people in Korea. As a girl born and raised in east Asia and belongs to lgbt community, I can feel that deeply.

answer (ode to joy) may not be for everyone but she's for meeeee bitch. this was always going to be the performance i wrote a book about and i'm sorry. it's my favourite of ateez's performances on the show. sure, it might not be the most polished but it's so quintessential ateez. i honestly disagree with some of the other comments in that i think that ateez were absolutely hungry for it and wanted to win, they were so determined throughout the whole show but this felt like the week that they realised that that's not how the chips were going to fall, and you could feel all of those conflicting emotions. the way that they infuse feelings like that into the essence of who they are is part of what makes me so obsessed with them. with the way that they were treated over the whole show, the looks on their faces at the end just felt like catharsis. from past weeks we know they understand and have explicitly said that the formula people are looking for is an easy to understand story with big moments, and they chose to go full lore anyway. hongjoong writing a new rap for the performance about everything they've been through while images of their past performances play in the background, inviting la poem just because they performed on the same ep of immortal songs and they were just so in awe of them... this is it for me. answer is such a special song and deserves this grand treatment. it still makes me cry. the votes were a travesty but what the performance represents means too much for me to care.

I knew you’d give it the appreciation it deserves ❤️ I also appreciated your tangent on fandom names and Melody is indeed a great one. The best even, in my opinion. The best name for the best, nicest and sweetest fandom. I feel like older groups have better fandom names (and if they’re boring at least they make sense). A lot of the 4th and 5th gen groups' fandom names make me wonder who the fuck came up with them. Like they just put letters together annd claim it means something. Also sf9? Truly a performance worthy of the name sexy fantasy 9 (and yes I know that’s not their name but I’ve been calling them that ever since Changmin first said it). I feel like sexy isn’t a real word to me anymore after this episode, it was repeated so many times. And they were so good! Move is not an easy song and they didn’t just pull it off but made it their own! A deserved win! Hopefully I get to see move live tomorrow when I go see Taemin! For me, SF9’s Move is one of the four legendary performances that everyone talks about from this show, with the others being Ateez’s Wonderland, BTOB’s Backdoor and Stray Kids’s God’s Ddu ddu ddu ddu. I cried with you all over again and couldn't stop when they showed Sangyeon crying, I am a Deobi since 2018 almost from their debut and soon it's time for Sangyeon's enlistment so it all just hits way more. I came across Kingdom after it had already aired. This show is how I found Ateez. However I am so glad I wasn’t an Atiny during this time. It would have been so hard and frustrating as an Atiny to watch this show each week. I was so shocked by their ranking from this performance. I know everyone was good and at the time I didn’t really know any of them but I thought Ateez performance was incredible. It was the only one that left me absolutely wanting to know more about them. SF9’s Move was definitely number 1 for me too but Ateez should have been way higher up. Loved your reaction as always!!!

I have been catching up with some of your older vids and I wanted to mention that I really like y'all's current eyeglass frames. The move to the nose pad style really lightens up your faces! Ateez should’ve been higher, I chalk it up to people not getting the lore so maybe they were a bit confused by the performance. Atiny were gagged. La Poem and Ateez met (pretty sure) on Immortal Songs. This collab was beautiful and I found it breathtaking. This was The Boyz’s best performance on this show, though their RTK ones were better I think. In reality this competition was rigged as hell from the beginning and giving Ateez any points would have threatened StrayKids. And a Big 3 group MUST win. I had BTS tickets preCovid. It got cancelled. I’ll never be able to afford to see them again. And it breaks my heart.

no hate at all ok I am a fan of ateez BUT I will have to say I think the performance didn't hit for some because it was kind of like a regular stage at music bank performing their song but opera singers included and bad camera angles where we could barely see them dance underneath the singers. I think the other groups had more to see visually.

Hmm, at first for the voting among themselves I thought it’s one just all voted for each other (which I would fully support, they went thru it last round) but sf9 and btob both had 3 votes so at least one of them defected and voted for btob, and then sf9 and somebody else both got a vote from mayfly. I feel that the "No Limit" stage was one of Ateez weaker performances. DISCLAIMER: I'm already biased against Kpop lore. It's often generic, with surface-level meaning that is forced into unrelated media. However, while Ateez isn't doing itself any favours by incorporating their lore, the performance also falls into common Kingdom and Kpop year-end stage tropes/pitfalls. 1. The audience, the idols and experts have seen at minimum 4 rounds of "Odysseus" epic/melodramatic stages and clearly the people are tired of seeing it. While the Boyz may have established the meta in RTK and done superbly, multiple groups that perform similar concepts have garnered bottom placements. Maybe they could've gotten away with it in their opening stages but this is Round 3. 2. Similarly... the random classical music segment. Producers love to incorporate well known pieces into year-end show performances to elevate them and give a sense of grandeur but it's overdone and pretentious. Let Marie Antoinette die. Artists should use organs, choirs, violins, etc. But unless you are doing an inventive/creative cover, do not just sample and call it a day.

Ateez is really one of the rare groups in kpop doing it for the arts and not just for the popularity. If they had wanted to, they could have adjusted their stages to be more palatable to the average viewer but they chose to stick to their concept and lore regardless. I respect them so much for that, especially with this time period being one of their roughest.

I guess it's a bit late to comment on here, but I wanted to add on to the whole Hyunjin situation since you mention it. From what we know he did watch the kingdom performances and supported skz, but that hiatus was really hard for him. He has expressed multiple times through poetry/songs/art that it was a really draining period. He often mentions spring in these art forms with a sad connotation (Kingdom and his hiatus was during the whole season of spring).

I know this is older content and i haven't looked through every single comment on the video. But in case no one else has said it, Hyunjin is the one who usually brings up kingdom. He never brings it up in a negative light, but it's interesting because sometimes it feels like the others choose not to talk about it and he's willing to bring it up whenever it comes to mind.
