I didn't mention that it was a Suzuki cuz I thought that it would be an annoying comment lol

This is one of my favorite First performances 😭❤️ (this show was also how I was introduced to First)

Brittany

Gawins definitely slimmed down quite a but since this.

No matter how many times I watch this show it kills me. It’s really a top tier BL. The social commentary, the acting, the way it is filmed, the plot. I’m eager to see the new OffGun by the same director. Looks interesting. But Not Me is up there with Manner of Death.

daze_daisy

I love first and khaotung together, but the way he embodies Yok in this series is truly special! My favorite performance from him

One of the more interesting discussions that surrounded this show when it came out was the contrast between it's obvious messages about society/class divide and it's GMMTVisms that are all over its production. The fact that this show points a finger at large corporations, criticizes their parctices and the very justice system and incentivizes prostests and satirical art, and yet is filled with sponsored products and was financed by corporations to create a show meant to serve as a pg entertainment piece to be mass consumed. They even had the standard GMMTV product tie-ins where you could by Sean's bracelet on the GMMTV website. You could even argue it mimics the scene at the end of the episode where people with power "allow the use of art to express discontent as long as it doesn't disturb the status quo." Many people agreed that, while the show did greatly benefit in getting it's messages across from the increase in financial resources, the platform was not the most appropriate to have these comercial tie-ins and did in fact diminish the impact of it's message slightly. Even if the passion and intent of it's creators was very fealt. However, the reason this conversation is interesting is because the show also used it's platform to shine a spotlight on topics and issues negleted by other media, such as the importance of art and how it is negleted in modern Thai society as well as it's power in expressing the pain and passion of the opressed. And also the importance of visibility and resources to people with disabilities in the workforce. In the end the creator made it clear that they intentionaly left certain characters and relationships ambiguos because they wanted the audience to decide for themselves where they aligned morally with the events of the story. And so, when it comes to this discussion as well, it lies on each individual to decide for themselves how they feel about the use of comercial products to finance this kind of show.

if you watched the intro you would know that is a susuki swift

RJ: 'Gumpa has do not disturb on'. Howling!!

inherent whimsy of bisexuality

ah... 13 is one of my favourite episodes. the reveal that they knew dan was unar the whole time is so good and the betrayal is Delicious. i know this episode gets people heated but they did, in fact, threaten to kill dan's family, so i don't know if there was any way he could've gotten out of this. shoutout to first. i'd been keeping an eye on him but this show is what cemented him as one of my favourite gmmtv actors to watch (a choice that has sometimes led me to good shows and sometimes to bad ones lol). anyway, "i love you" is overrated. now we say, "give me countless chances to turn back time, my decision would remain the same. we can't kill each other, black. our paths may have taken a different turn, but our intentions are just the same."

Ri

You guys pointing out White’s double during that dramatic ass emotional ass ending scene in the elevator had me wheezing😂

wen

the revelation that the higher ups knew dan was UNAR the entire time gagged me. also, i know dan's betrayal was controversial, but i don't think it solidifies him as someone irredeemable but rather highlights that change isn't black or white (ha). white highlights how "not everyone is able to stand up against an oppressive system", and i think there is a purposeful contrast between white and dan's growth; they both come from places of privilege in which they've come to understand their comfort stems from the suffering and misfortune of others. but unlike white, dan is still relatively separated from any sort of community who rallies change and lacks a support system outside of yok. while all the characters lack political and economic power, it is through their solidarity that they are able to survive. dan, however, is surrounded by and is still a moving cog in the very system he denounces, and therefore cannot truly commit to the cause. his betrayal is heartbreaking, but it isn't shocking.

AND FUCK DAN! not in the hot way

I have a postcard of that toddblack scene hung up in my room... ah... love

People don't talk about manner of death enough. It is one the best!

ophelia

Black’s complete disregard for the fact that if he dies his brother might die is WILD, even after White reminds him of their bond in the previous ep 🤣🤣 or maybe it’s just drowning?? 🤔 Also I fully cried for Yok, or First, either way I cried 🥲

ophelia

Also there’s something about Mond that gives me Sangyeon and I can’t unsee it

Jane Dino

I don't know if this is controversial, but I think Dan's storyline is one of the strongest in Not Me. White does what we all want him to as the audience - he realizes his privilege in society and commits himself to being a better person with his new community. However, Dan is someone completely drenched in self loathing. He's clearly socially isolated, and we watch as his one attempt at bringing attention to injustice is crushed in front of his eyes. Nothing he did was 'outside' the system because they were essentially always aware of him and in theory could have shut him down at any time. Absolutely haunting. Plus, at the same time, they threaten to kill his parents. While his betrayal is hard to watch, it's thematically fitting. I only wish the show had shown his parents so that we would feel an emotional connection like we do with Yok's mom. I just adore Gawin. I think he's my favorite GMMTV actor.

Jane Dino

I agree. I said in another comment I think Dan has one of the best arcs in the show. To have his one outlet of expression destroyed in an instant while his parents are threatened is heartbreaking to watch. He clearly wants to be better, but is clearly so isolated (and borderline sucidial) that he's not able to

THIIIIIIIIS

Lisa M T

Dans car is a Suzuki, not a Subaru. lol as a woman who has been mistaken as a lesbian all my life because I have short hair, and prefer comfy sensible shoes.... I KNOW what Subaru is. I happen to love Outbacks also.

Tabea

watching not me had me go from fuck cops to fuck cops 💦 back to fuck cops!!!

Lisa M T

OMG the minute after I wrote this comment... You guys figured it out.........

i_nirvana

Me too. I fought my pedantic instincts.

kayleigh

YOK 😫😫😫😫😫😫my shayla

Tom Mann

i LOVED your casting even with no idea who any of the characters were <3

Waverly

I was just about to finally comment about it too! As a PNW girlie I know my Subaru logo lol And then they figured it out...

Yemidotcom

I started watching Golden blood and something wasn’t sitting right in my soul. And now watching this is all clicked. I don’t think I have ever forgiven Gawin for making First cry like this. First and these tears took me weeks to recover from. I know it’s just the character, but I simply could never recover.

JLD

I actually thought that calling the car a Subaru was a bit this entire time😅

dizzy

no omg bc during the truck heist scene i was thinking where the CDLs at ???? get behind me adam

Viendo de nuevo el capítulo me hizo sentir mal por Dan, el Pobre no tenía opción 😔

hayyy_png

im here for the grease casting discourse first, anti capitalist bl reactions second 😌😌

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

First’s cry scene got me every time 😭😭😭 This one was especially hard to watch even after couple of years

Jasmin💙

The scene of you getting arrested - I’m very conflicted, cos like we want to root for them and we know they want the best for the word, but like, we’re screaming and crying weeping over getting arrested AS IF they haven’t all committed actual real crimes😭😭 I know it’s not the point of the scene or even the arrest, but like Girls what did we expect happen (and they all talk about WelL if I gET caUgHt iLL JusT Go dOWn - CLEARLY NOT THEN😭) the arson?? Hello??

Lisa M T

Stealing a truck allegedly full of drugs to prove someone ELSE is making and distributing said drugs is just.... dumb. Whoever has possession of the illegal item....will be the one charged.

Lisa M T

Which scene?

Tabea

when black points the gun at todd and todd is tearing up and stops trying to fight, telling black to kill him if he can (combined with a tumblr post that says "this scene is so romantic and its two characters trying to kill each other")

LiveLaughLoveZonZon

Something that always has bothered me about this episode is the fact so many people treat Dan like he is some monster for what happened. They seem to forget that his parents lives were at stake. It makes you wonder, if we were put in the same position he was in, then what would we have done? It’s an extremely sad situation

Clara V.P

I was going to point out eventually that it was definitely Susuki not a Subaru but I thought it was an american thing and for some reason yall call any city car a Subaru lmao

Becca Grace

Oh, ToddBlack... my problematic ship...

Amanda

"Can you put your gun away?! We're in a fucking hospital!" I mean, if I were going to get shot, that's the place I would want to be lol.
