I don't know if someone else mentioned this. but i just wanted to also point out that in the last ep one of the dance coaches for changsub's team is eunhyuk from super junior, like he got a mega superior who is known for his talent in dance to just guest star and they never mentioned it he also like never spoke in the ep he just showed up and then left after 30 secs

100% agree to what you're saying. A great vocal slays. Not to mention to the audience at the back who couldn't see the stage properly, they will rely on the vocal performance. Changsub believes that to be a good idol, one need to focus on the BASIC skill.

watching iland 2, the writing was on the wall. I was never surprised by eliminations or who was moved to ground. The show made everything pretty clear what was happening (even though I often disagreed with decisions made). THIS show has me on the edge of my seat. I have no idea what's going to happen next.

I think it was never properly explained in the show during the trading (nor it will be in the future), so I decided to share how the mechanics work in the lineup after the trade. Some could've probably figured it out though, when they revealed the final starting lineup cards, after the trade. Once they're traded, since the lineup is based on ranking of their points/votes, they'll be placed according to their rank in the new team. So in Chih En's case, since he earned quite a lot of votes, despite replacing Royce who is in bench, he gets to be in Starting Lineup. Same goes with Hanseo, who were in starting lineup from Beat (supposed to be), but was moved to Groove's bench, due to his points lower than other Groove members. And since Royce has a lower score than Jinho, Jinho will move up to starting lineup.

Yeah this is a great explanation, I totally missed that they never really explained this on the show and to be honest I didn't even really think about it but that's right, it is weird they don't explain that and now with this explanation the show makes so much more sense.

Not sure if anyone ever mentioned, but Kim Kijoong was on the show 'the Unit' and was in the debut group UNB. Unfortunately, he didn't get to debut after UNB disbanded so that is why he is on all these survival shows again

Gijoong has just been like all over the survival show industry and knows so many people because of it, it's kind of crazy. He originally debuted in 2017 in the group IM with Hangyul from BAE173. The group went on the survival show the unit in 2017/2018 where Gijoong debuted as the maknae of the group UNB, they disbanded in early 2019 and Gijoong and Hangyul became MBK trainees... Gijoong didn't debut under BAE173 but stayed as a Pocketdol trainee and went to college where he became friends with Sung Hanbin, Sunyoul, and Suhwan. He ended up on Wild Idol in 2021 and also got really close to Gunwook then enlisted in 2022 then went to Universe League like right after he came back. Random fact but Gijoong was actually Hangyul's first kiss lol

I've actually seen a lot of people saying the same thing you guys said. The audience is hearing the live vocals, some of the audience can't even see the stage... or they can see the dance but not the facial expressions...if it sounds bad they're not voting for it. People will say what they want about groove but if you watch live recordings of some of the performances they sound very good and very live. Han sounds incredible but who's surprised. I totally get Changsub's strategy, I would also never sacrifice vocals when a live audience is voting.

Depends on how much you are willing to sit through. In my opinion Project 7 was just way to long and a bit boring with not enough pay off as the finale was predictable, but had an "interesting" concept with the assembling structure. Starlight Boys had major issues with the judges, missions, and voting, but had fun content and the contestants seemed to generally have a good time, despite episode 2 and drop outs. People complained about UL as well; mainly about voting and fan strategies. Audiences will never really be happy watching a survival show live lol. There is always something to complain about as you can't please everyone. I would say if you truly enjoy watching survival shows, or at the very least interested, just watch both and form your own opinion.

The Kijoong lore is actually insane. He was in the group IM back in 2016/17 when he was 15 years old, with fellow member HANGYUL (yes that Hangyul - from BAE 173 and Peak Time and everything else - Hangyul also went on record years later and described his time in IM living in a cellar full of cockroaches and being mistreated so you can only imagine what Kijoong as a young teenager experienced). Kijoong and their whole group goes to The Unit, a survival show, and he's the only one that makes it to the project group UNB (alongside A.C.E. member Chan). UNB survives for like a year and half but disbands in 2019 (not much success). Kijoong goes back to training and guess what, befriends SUNG HANBIN (there are actually pictures of them floating around together and selfies). Then Kijoong goes to Wild Idol in 2021 and guess what? He befriends PARK GUNWOOK and actually tries to protect him from some sexual comments the judges made (Gunwook was 16 at the time). They become friends. So, Kijoong was friends with Hanbin and Gunwook before Boys Planet ever existed. Kijoong doesn't make it into the final group from Wild Idol, goes into military service, and then goes to this show. That's a TLDR version btw.

I’m watching the show for the first time with you guys and I also don’t understand the Chih En situation, not that he’s bad or anything, he just doesn’t pull me in. But from these other comments I’m excited to see him grow. Watch him become my fave by the end lol

The Gijoong lore actually goes deeper than Woongki's. At least the lore that is known. He debuted in 2017 with Hangyul in a 4 member vocal group called IM under MBK Ent. They were meant to eventually debut as a full 10 member group but before that happened, the 4 members went to appear on the survival show, The Unit. Gijoong was around 16 at the time and was the youngest of the male contestants. He was basically Daisuke; adorable, skilled, and babied by the older guys. He made the final 9 and debuted with UNB. The project group only lasted about 10 months before disbanding. After that, it was assumed him and the rest of the IM guys would return as IM. But it seemed like all signs of that group went quiet and Gijoong and Hangyul were reintroduced as MBK Boys, their trainee group. Then MBK eventually became Pocketdol, Hangyul went on PDX101 and debuted with X1. Then when they started introducing members of their new group BAE173, Gijoong wasn't one of them. At this point, I thought he had left Pocketdol, but apparently he hadn't. He continued as a trainee while going to school where he became friends with quite a few idols like Sung Hanbin + Choi Sunhwan. He's appeared in a few dance covers with those guys. Then he competed on Wild Idol where he met Gunwook. He made it to the finals on that show but didn't make the final group. It was after that, he enlisted in the military. And here we are. Idk where Woongki falls in his lore since that was also new to me. All I know is, I've been waiting for this guy to redebut since 2018/19 and MBK/Pocketdol is wasting his talents locking him away in the basement.

Changsub isn't THAT much older than the trainees, he's born in '91. so he's like 10 years older than the military boys, he has most of the older trainees on his team I think. El Capitxn is also close to his age being born in '93. And BTOB is the most senior group, they debuted in 2012 while GOT7 debuted in 2014

Personally I thought Kyungho would get the Chih En narrative of having great visuals/aura, or something like the Jiwoong narrative. He is very (very) attractive and is very good at dancing and has a nice voice, one of the stronger contestants I would say. Maybe that's just me though...

Yup I agree about Kyungho that he could have that narrative on paper. But I feel like the producers were like "this Woongki vs. Kyungho narrative is too juicy so Kyungho's narrative has to be that" and since that has been Kyungho's narrative it wouldn't really work together with "Oh he's so attractive...". And to be honest I have to admit I kinda live for the Woongki vs. Kyungho narrative in how they have portrayed the drama, I'm really eating it up, so I feel like as a narrative plotline it is better for the show.
