I already got the clip of Kyungho's and Woongki's hug on my timeline when it was originally aired (I am only just now watching the full episodes), that clip alone thoroughly broke me when I saw it, for a good few hours I actually cried every time I saw just those few seconds. For a Gether like me (TOO/TO1 fandom) this hug conveys so much emotion. It felt like it was the comforting gesture the fandom needed to finally somewhat heal from when everything broke apart. The way Woongki leans his head on Kyungho's shoulder... ugh, actually I am still crying now 🥲

Groove’s version of Mamma Mia made no sense to me 😭😭 I do not like it at all. I didn’t get the same satisfaction when this great part “we are~~ we are~~we are~~we are” came. It just like lost its glory. -10/10 for me. This is no hate towards the boys performing. They did their best. It’s just a very weird interpretation of the song… Like they just wanted to make it different for the sake of “being different”.

Im not saying groove wasnt good! Im just saying the performances were equal enough for the live vote difference to not be that high from more of an objective standpoint. Its very common for fans to vote for the contestants from their country like with online votes, but the difference is the live voting is given more importance right now. I dont think its a crazy thing to say when jiang fan did not deserve to get eliminated, specially this early in the show

Now that you said prison sounds like fiction I can’t unhear it 🫣 and test its beast (highlight) who are coming back with their original name after like a decade (fuck cube). Gikwang from peak time is from best. Funnily enough there was also an infinite member on peak time (sungkyu) 😆 and infinit also just had a comeback and it was amazing! This is shaping up to be the year of great comebacks!

I think regardless of all of this, one really important thing to keep in mind is that we have NO IDEA what the live mixing sounded like We don't know how much backtrack there was, how much autotune,... Maybe there was even korean mispronunciations we wouldn't know about,... It's very difficult, if not impossible, to judge live voting through a screen for a show like this For sure there is a bias, but it's a bit much to immediately put it on nationality.

I watched the two full versions back to back, and I have to agree, I don't really like Groove's version as well (though I wouldn't go THAT extreme 😅). I mean they said it themselves, they wanted to do it differently to stand out more (which isn't a bad thing), but Beat's interpretation fit the song better.

El Capitxn and Woongi’s gay father/gay son relationship or whatever is so cute. I feel bad for team beat though. It's just one large snowball of unfortunate. From losing the two-picks in the draft rounds, to losing momentum, votes, players. The main problem that the show's system probably didn't account for is that there's just no way to level up with a team this behind, especially when the voting is individual based. I think a heavy criticism of the line distributions for team beat is that it's basically Woongi and Kairi interchanging all the main parts but like what else are they supposed to do when everyone apart from Woongi are so drastically in the trenches bc that vote drop was rough

Yea I agree I think in terms of technique and talent Beat and Groove were pretty equal in terms of Mamma Mia, in some ways maybe Groove had more breadth and more talented people as for Beat it’s so clearly Woongki and Kairi who are the best. That said though I agree with OP that the interpretation of Beat was much better and if you look at the lyrics and think about the composition it just made more sense, I felt euphoric during Beat’s final chorus while I felt like Groove felt a bit too tense and forced emotionally speaking with the sexy concept towards the end. But that’s just my opinion. And “objectively” they were very evenly matched I think.

It’s how a lot of ppl felt actually, I mean the difference in views between the two performances shows which one ppl generally enjoyed more. I’m sorry to say but Groove’s performance was boring from start to finish and their vocal tones didn’t even fit well with the song tbh.

Gahhh I can't wait for the next episode, especially after the emotional mess that is this episode. So much tears for Woongki and the Beat Team. Jiang Fan and Kang Junhyuk both deserved better and I hope we see them again in the near future. I did like how different they tried format this survival show, it's a nice breath of fresh air from the usual Round 1 vs battle, Round 2 position battle, Round 3 Concept battle, etc type of set up a lot of survival shows had. And the whole team/ trading does keep things interesting. But I do think the online voting kicked in way too late and trainees without a previous fanbase are at a disadvantage since atm even though we're at round 2 of live performances, the online votes are from before the show even started. I believe they've already filmed through this round performances prior to the show airing because that moment of Woongki crying was in the preview of Episode 1. So basically the online votes didn't line up with what's currently happening on the show. Also the way they milked the whole Woongki vs Kyungho drama for like 5 episodes only for it to play out like "yeah we used to be in a group together, the situation sucked, now we're trying to move on" Which is what was expected but SBS had to try and make it a big thing. But I'm glad they hugged it out, and Nam Doyoon 3rd wheeling that hug definitely helped break the tension a bit. Gahh the trades! I was so sad when Changsub snatched Juwon. He fit so well with Rhythm and you can see how sad JL was to have his bestie leave. And yeah, Rhythm only had 2 Korean member from the start, Juwon and Heejun and Changsub took both of them. Lastly, I have to say, Kenta's abs was the highlight of the episode.

@Dora Exactly. The people in the audience said the fans in the back couldn’t see the dancing so it became about vocals. Sirin was the only standout in Rhythm and he was good, but it was him vs Park Han and Han easily won. Groove had Han, Kenta, Heejun, and Gijoong as standouts.

also for like simple easy make up, brow pencil would be fine. elf has one that is fairly cheap and forgiving for learning (elf instant lift eyebrow pencil). Would recommend. Also their halo liquid filter is nice for not really coverage but filtering effect. could add some powder on top like the Maybelline fit me powder to mattify. I personally like the lys translucent powder. If you want more full coverage (and expensive) foundation, the haus labs foundation is the best tbh, along with their concealer, so good!!! I do love makeup quite a bit and love recommending things I've tried <3

This episode scarred me- Woongki sobbing, the 101 points, Park Juwon getting traded and then Jiang Fan going home. Thank god they chucked in that bit at the end with Chih En looking bewildered whilst everyone partied around him haha.

idk this whole round was just personal preference. everyone getting mad saying this ones better than the other yada yada, i dont think any of these performances were notably bad, or even super amazing. they all had positives and negatives tbf, it truly all boiled down to what you prefer. i remember twitter was going wild, accusations were flying everywhere, everyone was angry. its genuinely what made me stop watching it after this episode, but its been fun watching it with you guys so far!

Also isn't Ten friends with Joong from GMMTV? And Joong is like best friends with DaouOffroad and has gotten really close to First and Khao since the Heart Killers. With the BL industry getting bigger in Asia, I think social circles are more interconnected than people realize.

The biggest problem with the show is that they don't do the trades right - the losing team should have first pick, so the teams are always rebalanced. Then no one team is so brutally gutted.

Right?? The whole format is great, but I think the trades are were the balancing of the show just get completely wacked. The losing team has NO chance of bouncing back if they, not only don't get a pick in the trade, but also loose all the star players in the process. They should have at least made it so you couldn't trade a bench for a starter. Seriously twice now Groove has given up their rank 14 for a top rank,.That just don't sit right.

Yup! It's almost a carbon copy. When I watched it the first time I said WOW CLOSE ENOUGH, WELCOME BACK, VIXX. The concept is also reminiscent of VIXX's Chained Up. And I wasn't there for the backlash but I can already see how Changsub probably got so much heat for this. VIXX and BTOB debuted at the same time and were compared a lot back in the olden dinosaur kpop days. Vocal kings and the Kings of Concepts. Connecting them to lore for Adam and RJ is that VIXX's Ravi is the CEO of Sung Hanbin's agency. Unfortunately he pleaded guilty to using fraudulent means to try to evade military service, and I believe is serving a prison sentence. He's still the CEO though so being in jail doesn't preclude him from getting that bag. On the day of BP's finale Sung Hanbin thanked him in his acceptance speech and that started a small issue.

i could go on foreverrrr about my opinions on the specific duel match-ups, but i'll just say that the mamma mia and prison results were pretty controversial at the time with eng-speaking viewers. i saw team groove getting a lot of hate online for pretty much the rest of the show after this round. people thinking beat should have won mamma mia (the teams were evenly matched imo. plus some newer woongki fans were very happy to blindly paint kyungho as a Villain, which was miserable to me, a woongki and kyungho bias since 2020), thinking rhythm should have won prison because they actually did the full choreo, being mad that both groove teams played "cheap" by showing abs (as if rhythm wasn't also using abs and yaoi), insisting that groove Only kept winning because they were heavily korean, etc etc etc. the unileague youtube channel also put out a bizarre and pointless survey asking which team should have won prison, which they didn't do for any other match-up. so that didn't help anything. also, as evident by the individual numbers, rhythm (+ woongki) were much more popular internationally, so people were just angry in general that groove kept winning the on-site votes. it was just a hot mess and very annoying especially if you liked team groove. besides woongki and kairi, i was mostly a groove fan lol. can't wait for you guys to see woongkai in action btw. anyway re: adam asking what the online votes were on. that's the funny thing, they were based on, like, nothing! the first online voting period (which what was this round used) was november 11-17; universe league started airing on nov 22. so i guess it was based on just the trainee profiles/intro videos and the signal song?? which is why some of the rankings are so strange, because none of the voters knew anyone beyond familiar faces. a lot of people didn't even know voting was happening at all. that's why trainees like park han and sirin are so low and jiang fan got totally robbed. i was voting for him every week and was in RUINS after this episode. i'm manifesting that jiang fan will reappear on another survival show in the future so i can one-pick him because he's suuuuch a talent!!! but sadly, the online voting will continue to be fucked :/ next round, when the second online voting is used, keep in mind that that vote was done from nov 22-dec 21. for reference, episode 5 aired on dec 20. sorry for the text wall lol but i'm very excited for you guys to see the holiday episode bc it's a delight and was a much-needed palate cleanser after this one

I don't think the point of the trades from the company's standpoint is really to balance the teams though. It's to get all the popular members on one team so that, that team will be the one to win and debut. Because it's a team that wins they need to make sure one team has the most popular members that will make them the most money.

The online votes on this ep only consists of the 1st round of voting, which closed before EP 1 aired. So Park Han haven't got the main vocal narrative yet, and Jiang Fan haven't showcased his dance on TV yet. The contents were only the Title Song, Profiles, Interviews and Presscon/Fanmeet (?) (Not sure what to call that particular event). It's also probably the reason why Eito has a high number of votes. During the voting period, people haven't completed their lineups and because Eito has good photos on his profile (I think?) many voted for him as +1. I saw many comments about him before the show started, if I remember correctly.

Been a while since I saw a power vocal in a survival show that is undeniably the best of the whole season. The last one I really loved is Kim Jaehwan from pd101 / WannaOne, he's so unique and was more of a soloist and band type of vocals that gives structure in each performance in the show and I think Park Han is going that same route here, like the type of vocals that are not easily found in groups nowadays. I always root for the talented vocals in a survival show lol.

I was watching this for JL and Woongki but so many others started standing out to me as well (Hanseo/Kenta/Shuaibo etc). Park Han was a massive surprise for me he is an insane vocalist/performer WTF is wrong with his company for not utilizing him.

A lot of the audience that were there would say that there is a very clear difference in vocals between the teams that are lost when the show airs with strategically edited vocals, based on who the show wants to look better/worse (PROJECT 7 is an example of this taken to the extreme); so no, you didn't watch the same thing the audience did.

this episode was such a hard watch for me. i felt rj so much when he was at the end of his rope lol. after watching woongki sob on stage it was really hard for me to care about anything else. then the eliminations happened and seeing the boys cry over loosing teammates made me cry! the ep was awful for my emotions lol 0/10
