Not sure if i ever mentioned this, but during one of my pre meetings with the ateez management (yunho, woosan, and hongjoong were also there) for thier interview i might have casually mentioned to check out a few creators like Adam and RJ for really good audience engagement

Maddox is a soloist and a producer yes lol he is the one who does the English in the intro and outro tracks. The guy who you can see managing everything with the long hair; that’s the main producer Eden - head of Edenary, KQ’s production group. He’s pretty much at the top creatively when it comes to KQ artists

Re: scripts for mentions and stuff too. From a marketing and PR perspective it’s not weird to me either. Kpop artists are held to such a high standard so in addition to not speaking their native language - they also probably have so much anxiety about never saying the wrong thing. It gives them talking points and guardrails so they don’t have to be too in their head about what they’re saying. People seem to forget how much even western talent speaking their own native language are scripted in things like interviews about their movie or show pre crafted by a PR person or the marketing team 😅

What I appreciate about the way they schedule their tours (at least this last one), is they had 2 days at least in a city. So one day they did sight seeing or rested and then the concert. It was fun to see that when they were in Dallas a few of them were just up the street from me. I just appreciate that they do get out and see things or rest between shows. So who knows what they’ll get up to in Chicago!

Yes, the camera work during the week 1 performance was horrendous. It was too zoomed in, didn't always show the member that was singing, you couldn't see the choreo at all etc.

It was noticable week one. The camera would follow members off to the side completely missing whoever was center focus (like hj cat ears in crazy form) or it would be stuck on one camera angle and not switch to the other shots for long periods. Their performance was still excellent though.

Oh god the camera work was horrible. It wasn’t just the wind. It was like they didn’t even know who to focus on so they would just miss major choreo parts or killing parts. Like hj part in crazy form etc. like the shakey camera etc I get it. The cutting in and out from broadcast I get it. But the not knowing where the killing parts were? Atiny was PISSED. also the lighting was dark as hell in parts as Yeosang mentioned. Like you couldn’t see the dancing in arriba for yeosangs parts that kind of thing. Week two was wayyyy better. But I was sad because week one hj had such a nice speech about coming to la first time vs now and growth. Plus the outfits.

The camera work was awful for week one lmao it was like a zoomed in frame and just stuck like that mostly 😭. Also for the fits, they wore customer Valentino for Week 1 and were dressed by Dolce & Gabbana for Week 2.

I'm a coachella girly, I've been about 7 times now, there's hotels, but depending on the location, traffic and time you go in, it can take like 2 hrs to get in and leaving is a lot. I just camp now which can be rough, but I'm OK with it lol i was able to do a 20 min walk back to my camp to nap before Enhypen this year. I have looked into Lolla but the flight, hotel, and ticket is a lot more money for me since I'm in AZ. I will eventually try to do Lolla so I can see if it's worth it.

lol had to pause to say the Coachella is in a city and next to lots of restaurants and stores 😂 I legit lived down the street for a while. Could hear the music from my house. Its bordering cities Indio and La Quinta. It's not like burning man location 😂

the camera work during week 1 was very hard to watch and felt like it was being done by someone who never directed kpop or multiple artists at once. week 2 was much more clean and programmed like a typical kpop show

It's just the toxic atiny. 99% of what he is not liked for are literal lies. The only real reason why they do is idol's the savior's complex that unfortunately many fans suffer with.

It was ONE DAY and ONE TASK when he was a young artist suddenly saddled with babysitting duty he didn't sign up for. And since then Hongjoong has been incredibly close to him. It's kind of insane how ppl are intent on hating on people Hongjoong personally holds dear and pretend that it's for his sake.

Its not just that the camera work was bad - there was some kind of system error so the stream couldn't cut between cameras, so it was stuck on a mis-distance shot for half the set so the weird shots are when the camera man (I assume) still thought they were meant to be cutting to the close up/far distance shots

At the time, people were saying that week 1 of Coachella is notorious for bad camera work, later I think I heard that a literal dust storm was happening during Ateez which is what affected the tech. edit: sand storm, not dust. We had a dust storm in Chicago Friday (super weird), so I conflated them. There were opinions that the week 2 fits were better, but for me, Hongjoong's fringe was the best of all of them.

Yeah, watching it it felt way off (kind of like sabotage) because it was totally fine the performance before them. Honestly I didn’t know the system had failed until the second part of the documentary came out in June when Coachella had happened in April

Their outfits for week 1 were all designed by Valentino, and for week 2 everyone was dressed by Dolce & Gabbana, it's just that that some of the outfits looked similar but it's different outfits!

I'm not sure if you caught that Seonghwa had 3 swords but only 2 glowing ones and one of the glowing ones stopped working literaly the day off and he spent that time obsessing over it bc he had to choose either not glowing sword or the heavy one that requires two hands (and he has a handhled mic so that won't work). He ultimately decided to take the heavy glowing one and to do it with one hand and just power through it bc why the hell not! 😅

The camera work for week 1 was so bad. Week 2 was much better. That said, they must have stepped it up this year and rehearsed the cameras or something because the camera work for Enhypen and XG was great.

Also for the rehearsal was on the Thursday before which is day 0 for the campgrounds so you could hear and see them from the camp, this stage is more near the entrance

Other people have commented, but I have to reiterate how bad the week one camerawork was. It made the official stream almost unwatchable. Atiny didn’t find out until this documentary came out what had happened. We literally thought we had gotten incompetent cameramen. Also the lighting issues Yeosang mentioned affected him directly. He had several solo dance breaks in complete darkness because for some reason the lights cues were off

Funny when you mentioned Yunho’s hair not moving, I forget if it was week 1 or 2 but Seonghwa went live after and pulled like 25+ bobby pins out of his hair, and then posted a pic shortly after of 2 more he found in the shower lmao Edit: And yeah the first week cameras were so bad even non-fans on the Coachella subreddit were like what the hell and kept blaming it on “kpop not knowing how to handle a big stage” 😑 the first 20 minutes was a single steady shot, like waist up, trying follow whoever was singing (and not doing a great job of that either), no cuts, no wide shots etc. It was all because of the wind shutting down the system. I think they still had a problem the second week too with the camera on the crane, also from the wind, but it was less noticeable. The year Ateez performed, they had moved the Sahara stage to a new location on the grounds and I’m not sure if that was a factor as well, not knowing how bad the wind would blow in that area compared to previous years. That big overhang is like a wind tunnel lol Edit 2: I know Mingi went to Isoknock, I think that’s when Hongjoong described him as a deer lmao there was a fancam of him just getting the zoomies all over the artist area lmfao. Hongjoong went to see J Balvin too and was on the big screen 😂 J Balvin ended up going to Ateez’s set the following week and now they have a secret collab yet to be released. A few of them all went to The Rose’s set at the last week too

Looks like they'll have a couple days on either side of the Chicago show and since they're playing Wrigley instead of Allstate (in the burbs), I would think that they'll be staying in a better location to see/do things. Summer in Chicago is so photogenic. If Yunho doesn't take a boyfriend shot at the Bean or on a River cruise or at the beach I'm going to be disappointed!

A year later but it was even more than system errors for the cameras, that's being nice about it I'd say. It's like the cameramen hadn't been told who to focus on, or entered in having absolutely no knowledge of the show whatsoever. They'd pan to follow members walking to the side of the stage, and film them just standing still while other members still performed in the center.
