Naisha's elimination was not doing it any favors, but the end of episode three made me scream. I adore Laura, and I'm so seated now.

After episode 3 a lot of people were divided about the situation with Naisha. I am of the opinion that they were going to get rid of her anyways so this was an opening. Everyone broke the rules and yet she was the only one getting eliminated. There were also conversations about Nikki and Missy being racially unaware/tone deaf and tbh I can see it.

i will say, though, this is a moment in the show where that culture clash with the kpop training system was reeaaaalllllyyyyy noticeable. so that's interesting. like kpop trainees just assume they're not allowed to have instagram. a lot of them just have their phones taken away for the day.

also adela did say it wasn't private accounts but a close friends story. idk if that makes it better or worse. but we'll never really know the truth/the details so... it's just frustrating because naisha was soooooo talented and so loveable

Naisha being eliminated was 100% justified in my opinion. They igned NDAs and are trainees. She did something that comprised their vision. So rather than take a risk, better to just eliminate it all together.

I understand why you think this way; the reason why things like this are taken so seriously is because secrecy is part of the formula of success to the project. One of the reasons is potential spoilers, but another is a matter of company-specific trade secrets being leaked to competitors -- which is why they can't post the trainers they're working with, etc. At this young age, the girls are working hard more towards a dream of being able to sing and dance for fans, but for all of the staff, these are their jobs and how they feed themselves and their families. This project had a lot of money invested into it. If things got leaked further (luckily they didn't), the whole project might have had to been pulled and people would have been fired. The girls may have just doing normal teenage things, but unfortunately they are operating in a professional space. I don't think it was anyone's fault here, FWIW. It's just one of the realities of when you put really young people in a space for adults.

To be fair everyone broke the rules with having the private Instagram account but while ethe other girls was only posting pictures and videos with others Naisha was the only one who posted an original song which is worse that just posting a photo of friends.

I never realized that Sophie was definitely getting more information that anyone else would have been able to know under the NDA. The only thing I can guess is that because she works in the music industry (iirc), she may have a connection to Geffen or UMG that would allow her to learn to that information. But she is Manon’s real best friend, not a plant for the documentary hahahaha.

I’m loving your reactions to PSA so far! It’s so interesting to see how they all have grown since the very beginning, especially considering how strong they are in Gnarly era. Just a heads up that one narrative through the last half of the show is frustrating for a lot of people and led to real hate and death threats towards some members of Katseye, so it may be a sensitive topic. It does eventually wrap up, though, and the girls have spoken very candidly about it since.

What's so weird to me is people at geffen/hybe calling the Korean higher ups by their last name but first name for everyone else, like "Bang" or "Son" (but Missy, Sylvia, Bart, etc.), and like I'm sure it was probably the Korean producers' choice to get called like that but it reads so ignorant/inconsiderate to me? It's not a respect thing bc you could always add "Mister" if it was, but also you are making the effort to say "Yoonchae" for example so why not them...

My theory on the Naisha thing was that it was a private finsta that just had the girls, but also still had some eliminated girls like Abby and maybe a couple family members. She posted the story to close friends which was ONLY the current girls and that’s what she had a screenshot of, but since they were looking from Lexie’s account who was in the close friends they could see it and wouldn’t be able to know who else was in close friends (and probs didn’t care)

its kinda what everyone does, like how son heungmin goes by son or sonny, it kinda goes back to when ethnic names were such a "oh how do u say it?" type of thing and so now its just what most ppl do to avoid having their names butchered or have an awkward convo with the other person struggling. it definitely can be disrespectful especially when someone is just called lee without even asking them, but the mindset of a large majority is just i rather be called by my surname cuz its easier and in the mindset of a businessman from asia, im 100% sure they don't care ofc they would be so happy if they can call them by their actual names fluently but like i said, those two specifically do not give a damn

I think the thing with Adela is one she was white and as much as it feels weird to say people did not want any white girls in the group. Also her lips although natural probably reminded a lot of people of the lip filer craze going on so it was off putting. (Not for me I’m an Adela stan) And then also the first mission was dance and I’m gonna be real as someone who knows nothing about dance I was bored with both performances and only a few girls stood out and the outfits were horrible for pink venom so those were factors for her fading into the background and getting bad reviews I think.

And to expand on people didn’t want white girls in the group so I’m not misunderstood I think people saw diversity and saw a chance to finally have women of color succeed off their support and could not bring themselves to rank girls who weren’t of color higher or even think of them.
